The buzz around some RFAs, however, is beginning. Minnesota apparently tried to pre-empt any head-turning overtures from outside teams, putting together a formal offer to Pekovic on Friday, according to Timberwolves beat writer Jerry Zgoda:
As of Sunday, he is not believed to have been offered [a competing] deal and the number of teams who have the cap space and desire to sign him had dwindled to one or two.
Pekovic repeatedly last season said he wanted to return to Minnesota, and President of Basketball Operations Flip Saunders has said all along that he believes the two sides will reach a deal.
The price might rise to $11 million to $12 million per year for four years, insiders have estimated. Specifics of the Wolves’ offer weren’t known.
If minny is going to raise the offer to 11-12mil, what did they offer in the beginning? im sold that minny would not have matched 13-14mil.

You're really obsessed it seems. You know we weren't going to get him right. And what does this have to do with the Pelican or the Pelican brief?
I don't believe they would let him go, not at all.

You probably would have said the same thing about Indy and Hibbert last year. Indy was seen as every bit as skittish as Minnesota has been.

Plus, I wouldn't pay that much for him although I think he's a good player. I think Monty and Dell's vision requires more money devoted to AD and the perimeter. Ultimately, I just think they want a dependable, blue collar guy or guys at C.

I'm not sure what their cap space looks like after signing Martin, but if they have the space, they'll match the 13-14 mil. No need to offer the max to a RFA before other teams do.

If Pekovic is as important to their effort to retaining Love and Rubio as suggested, they'll match any offer and sort out the cap problems later.
AK47 opting out helped them tremendously in that regard.
Their guaranteed money before contracts are signed on Wednesday is $39m, with only $23m guaranteed for the 2014-2015 season. The $5m team option on Ricky Rubio will be exercised though.
Their new contracts for Wednesday should be Budinger ($5m this season, Bird Rights), Kevin Martin ($7m this season, free agent), and their draft picks.
If Pekovic gets a max offer, it would still "only" be in the $60-70m range, which still sits them below the tax line.
Even with Budinger, Martin, and the draft picks' deals, they won't have any significant cap problems until they start getting into Rubio's new contract in 2015-2016 and Love's new contract in 2016-2017.

Obsession
Multiple sources have said that the Wolves love Pekovic and were matching any offer, otherwise he would have had something from another team on the table. No matter how many posts and threads you dedicated to him, he would never be a Pelican.

If there is one player I don't want it is Pekovic
