As they evaluate their team and try to make a deal to help them get into the playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers are making recently acquired Luol Deng available ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, multiple league sources told ESPN.com.
Any way we can get him?
I know they want pierre too but he's not enough

Yeah there is very little chance he opts out. His next contract won't be for anywhere near that much.
He would have to not miss a game for the rest of this year, and then not miss one next year, and play OUT OF HIS MIND (like, top 20 player in the league numbers) to even think of opting out.
He's got two years left on his contract, for all practical purposes.

Eh. I mean, if they want Gordon, sure. That obviously works. But methinks they don't want to add that kind of salary for another guard.
If not Gordon, then it would need to be a combo of Tyreke/smaller parts...
Or a bunch of guys, but that won't work either because Cleveland can't trade anyone with Deng, I don't think, so unless there is a 3rd team involved it won't work.
So, essentially, Gordon or Tyreke. I don't know why they would want either.

Although, to get all conspiracy theory:
Our FO is very quiet about trades.
There seem to be a LOT of stories that contain the same info:
"The Pelicans are trying like hell to move Gordon and/or Tyreke, but they are failing! No one wants them!"
That seems to be the meme. Is another GM trying to depress the market for them by saying "Hey they are trying, but no one wants that garbage", in the hopes that we get desperate and just unload one of them for a crap contract?
ya, this along with the AR/PJ rumors and the fact that we have 6 available guards suggests a trade for one or more is likely, imo.
...I believe that no one wants Eric Gordon...don't believe that no one would want Tyreke, and we've heard much less about him, right?

I'm not sure State Farm cares where Chris lives or plays. James played in Cleveland and Miami, and neither are big markets, yet he's gotten many large deals. There are certainly more chances for more smaller deals in big markets.
I'm not sure players would to fail to notice that some places have more money to offer outside of direct pay than other if agents were absent.
Also, if it is all market, then why have the Clippers and Lakers been so far apart for so much of their common time in LA? Nets and Knicks?
It is more about thr franchises, and market affects those, but it is not the market itself attracting players, at least financially. Some players just want to be in a particular place. Love and Anthony seem to want to be home, for example.

Eh. That contract is high and long for a guy who can't really shoot very well. No one would offer anything "good" I would imagine. Lots of teams offering slightly shorter contracts for players who don't have near the potential.

He has a player option for 15.5 in 2015/2016. He would be a fool to opt out
Not so sure about that.
One year of 15.5 v another 3 or 4 guaranteed likely around $8M per year? If he gets hurt in that last year, it could very well be his last NBA contract.

Gosh Cleveland is a dumpster fire making Deng available after what a few weeks over there?

he's gonna opt out if he doesn't get hurt, imo.
...I think he'll take the long-term security and more overall guaranteed money. ~44M over 4 years instead of 15.5M and risk of re-injury.

Imo NO ONE will offer him 11 mil a year
his current contract is the biggest EG will ever have he will fall down to maybe 8 mil a year after this contract is up unless he starts playing better

I think cleveland will move Jack/and or waiters so that would open up space for a 2
I know it's wishful thinking though

The Grizzlies and Timberwolves have gained momentum on a deal that would send Tayshaun Prince and Tony Allen to Minnesota, sources say.

Perhaps that "close" trade with Minny is tied to this?

As Memphis tries to upgrade small forward spot, I'm told they've been among the many teams pursuing the Warriors' Harrison Barnes.

Why can't we put together a package for Harrison Barnes.
Posted on 2/19/14 at 10:53 am to TigerinATL
I know this is a news thread, but I'm not starting a trade machine one.
This is a bit silly and I don't think they should do it, but it's is intriguing to me.

Pels cap sheet is ruined, but I like the guys they get back. Lots of flexibility. Holiday/Chandler/Smith/Anderson/Davis lineup would be fun. Enough flexible pieces that you can mix and match for Evans. Still light up front, but you would be betting on Anjica or Withey to be reasonable at the 5.
Detroit gets to dump Smith and they get much needed backcourt help. Denver loses Miller and gets $10M in expirings to try and fix their mess.
