If I'm Morey, and I hate to say this, I'm on the phone with Boston right now to negotiate a Rondo trade before matching Parsons. Boston is in rebuild mode, and a package of Jones + filler + our pick might be enticing enough for them. The fit wouldn't be great, but that lineup would be formidable.

Or maybe I'm just stupid.

you can believe he's calling everyone right now. I would jump on rondo if Boston would agree to that

there is an opportunity here to take advantage of rockets cap space and a very short time to do it

I can't see Morey as a big Rondo fan considering how obsessed he is with them shooting 3's.

Fully aggregated, Ely+Gee+Hopson will complete Asik deal while leaving other players on roster, including Babbitt and Ajinca. - 42

Mason has been pointing to Hopson as a good piece for this purpose, and now he seems to be within reach - 42

I'm pretty sure Hopson replaced Gee in the Cavs trade to Charlotte, but I think there are a few other voidables floating around. Trade exception > Cutting a guy for nothing

Cap Room page at Salary Central, sadly, updated to reflect the removal of Morrow and his extremely utile name.

All of this appears to preserve the cap hold for Roberts, give the Pelicans the Full Bird Exception to use for signing, signing-trading.- 42

Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen Boozer has an expiring contract and could fit into the cap room the Rockets had hoped to use on Bosh, etc. Bulls have obviously shopped him.

HOU is a possible 3rd team in the deal

Not too bad money wise.

So they missed on Bosh, let Parsons walk, and signed Ariza for $8 million per. So they're worse.

They can still match Parsons. They have his bird rights.

Correct me if I'm wrong but once Hopson is waived by Charlotte, can we not acquire him via waivers and include him in the Asik trade?

That sounds about right if the timing works.

Well, well, well...

James has agreed to a two-year, $42.1 million deal with the team with the goal of re-signing with the Cavs before the 2016-17 season when a new television contract is expected to create a large jump in value of the maximum.

As part of the deal, James will have an option to become a free agent next summer but is fully committed to the Cavs long term, sources said. LINK

you think they still match? it seems getting ariza is an indication they gonna let him walk. if not, they gonna have a situation at SF like we currently have at SG

With a 4-year, $32M agreement for free agent Trevor Ariza, Houston could still match offer sheet for Chandler Parsons, source tells Yahoo.

Meanwhile, if the Rockets re-up Parsons, they continue to be a basketball thought experiment as much as an actual team.
