Jokes on Noel if he thought he was worth 100M

That's not so much the issue as Rich Paul telling him he could get him 100m so he would sign with Klutch, then when teams start calling Paul turns his phone off and refuses to listen to offers, apparently unbeknownst to his client

The discovery ought to be real interesting. Also, once one lawsuit occurs, I would not be surprised to see other "aggrieved" Klutch clients piling on (legitimately or not). The potential swarm of plaintiff attorneys could be sweet to see.

Noel’s suit will get dismissed way before any of this happens. There is an arbitration clause that they just pretend isn’t applicable.

I think most well-run agencies have significant cash reserves. I don't think Klutch is competent.

Going off memory, but didn’t Paul convince him to turn down 70+ mill because he told him he could get more.

Dudes a complete joke that got a few guys good contracts b/c of Lebabys leverage.

doesn’t matter if Noel was worth 70MM, he was offered it and should have taken it. let’s recall the circumstances

1) Noel didn’t fit with embiid so the sizers traded him to the mavs in the last year of his rookie deal
2) he played pretty well, and the mavs offered him the QO to retain his RFA rights
3) after the season the mavs offered 4/70
4) Noel declined, no other offers were reported, he signed the one year QO as his 2nd contract which almost never happens

yes, you need an agent to navigate your second contract. After contract number 2 (assuming you don’t do what Noel did) it’s all pretty much just math. He got bad advice, took it, and lost out on generational wealth

how any player decides to sign with klutch after that fiasco is beyond my understanding

Yeah, getting the Cavs to overpay for Thompson because Lebron was threatening to leave if they did was dirty and not at all indicative of Paul's negotiating ability.

Really has no bearing on this.

It's fine if you want to pass judgement for his decision-making, I do and would, but none of that matters to this case.

Doubt he wins, but the complaint is valid.

Rich Paul made promises and then abdicated his responsibilities as his client's representative in terms of negotiating offers and maximizing his client's interests. It's straight up negligence.

Probably not gonna get anything out of it, but your agent straight up being too lazy/disinterested/disorganized to receive calls is wild. Dude would never cut it as an agent without the coattails of Lebron to ride off of.

I'm still convinced Rich is intentionally weakening the league to help LeBron win rings. This story fits...the "lower tier" players signed for Klutch are just chess pieces and obviously they couldn't figure out where to play Noel

And people downvoted when I said blackball Klutch.

It's the only appropriate way to deal with them. Don't negotiate with terrorists and anyway, if we want basketball IQ, why sign someone who is stupid enough to go with Klutch.

I'd make it an unofficial mandate that Klutch is blackballed by the Pelicans. An existing player signs with them, they can start packing their bags.

Maybe other small market teams will follow. The lakers and heat only have so many roster spots. Once Klutch can't find these guys a home, they may implode.

I sympathize with this but taking that public stance means that people would break ties with their agents and sign with RP simply to force their way out if they wanted out of NOLA.

They don't even have to negotiate a deal with RP, just take him as the agent, get pushed out, then dump him and sign with another agent.

Yeah. I see what you're saying.

I think the real key is just to do a super hard deep dive into character.

The Saints are really pretty good with this overall and got better after getting burned by idiots like Browner and Galette. I mean it's not perfect (see Michael Thomas), but for the most part, they don't have idiots on the team.

Pels need to do the same. I'd argue anyone who signs with Paul is naive at minimum, stupid at worst.

Avoid avoid avoid.

I hate to say this, but we kinda need to be a CAA shop anyway, for Zion's sake. We want CAA to tell Zion to stay in Nola, and employing more of their clients can't hurt our cause.
