Hate him all you want, but he's still coaching Team USA this summer on a staff with Coach K and Thibs. If you think they wouldn't take a good coach, then you're probably wrong. #MontyCrusade

Why were/are Byron Scott and Mike Brown getting coaching offers.

Exactly.

Lets not kid ourselves; we all saw first hand how bad Monty was. Maybe he will learn something from Thibs and Coach K

Well, it looks like Monty survived this off season and will get another shot to show what he can do. We'll see where this goes.

Monty might be a good Assistant Coach for all we know. I'm sure he relates to the players well if nothing else. With Coach K and Coach Thibs on staff and 20 of the best basketball players on the planet on his team, facing inferior competition throughout the tournament, it seems like a hard job to frick up.

A good Head Coach so far for the New Orleans Pelicans? Absolutely not.

Inside Monty's head...

Coach K -- "Pfft. Just college coach."
Thibs -- "Pfft. Never played the game. Reminds me of my ex-dentist. Or was it my wife's gyno. Whatever. #TheMan."

He's lucky Anthony Davis has taken a liking to him. IMO, the only reason he's still the head coach.

Monty's supporters will hang on to USA basketball as long as they can.

Maybe Coach K and Thibs can teach him a little humility.

Just because he is an assistant coach doesn't mean he is a good head coach.

Monty is and will always will be a great assistant coach and motivator.

What he is not is a good tactician and in-game-manager

The Monty haters and Monty supporters are both talking out of their asses. This season will tell the tale.

Isn't Monty known to be good in player development? I'm not saying that makes him a good head coach (although I'm not as down on him as some), but I could see why that would make him an attractive coach to have on the USA staff.

yes, which is why you see some guys dead in the water and Monty gets the most out of them.

Damn right. I don't see Brad Stevens, Erik Spoelstra, Rick Adelman, Rick Carlisle, Greg Popovich, Terry Stotts, Dave Joerger, Mike Budenholzer, Frank Vogel, Jason Kidd, Lionel Hollins, George Karl, Avery Johnson, Kevin McHale, Doc Rivers, or Scotty Brooks on the sidelines coaching The Greatest Country In The World.

There are some people on both sides that spew a lot of hyperbole good and bad based on a pretty skewed sample over the last couple of seasons.

I think most people would say this season is pretty much do or die for Monty. That's exactly what my post meant.

As long as him staying with the Pels means AD stays with us, I am all for giving this bum another chance.
