From today's Black and Blue Report LINK

* Just about every year teams try and take Randy Ayers
* Will talk with Loomis next week about the staff "If we're helping the players improve why change? But at the same time if you can add something that can help our program you have to look at that." Translation, I'll change my staff if Mickey tells me too.

Not sure if this is standard exit interview coach speak or he's anticipating some staff change mandates. I've said before I don't hate any of the individual coaches on the staff, it just feels like they're missing the up and coming boy genius type, although Bryan Gates got a little bit of press in that direction this year in some "up and coming assistant" articles I saw.

I think we all want Malone because of the toughness and defense scheme he would bring, but something just doesn't add up to me. I have no sources and I'm probably completely wrong but I just get the feeling that there was something off about his departure.

I don't blame him for leaving our team was falling apart at the time. He probably got more money, more responsibilities, hell the bay area is a lovely place to live for the most part, the logical reasons are all there so hopefully I'm completely wrong.

No doubt it would be a home run hire. It along with health and another productive offseason for our young team would be awesome. I just wont get my hopes up

The franchise was still an ownerless mess when he left, and it was pretty obvious they were about to hit the reset button. I think what would prevent Malone from coming back as an assistant would be better opportunities. He'd have to feel this was a good stepping stone to his next HC gig, the same reason he went to Golden State.

If we fire Monty, no one will hire him as a HC (IMO)

True. What are the odds he gets a head coaching job this summer? I think once the main domino falls we'll have more info but it all depends on the bulls. Jalen Rose seems to believe that Thibs is gone if he doesn't deliver this season and I believe this has legs because OKC, ORL, DEN, MINNY would have a lot more smoke around their searches if they weren't waiting on someone still coaching.

If TOR retains Casey like early reports indicate, Saunders remains in both roles, and HOIBERG/Donovan go pro, I still put our chances fairly low

Wishful thinking. ... The Bucks pull an upset over the Bulls.

Thibs is fired, Monty is fired, and we hire Thibs

Thibs resurrects Asik, Trade Anderson for Tristan Thompson or Gibson, and we sign Draymond Green

I will say one thing about Monty, our team never quit on his watch and over the past three seasons they had plenty of opportunities. In no way am I comparing him to Pop or Phil, but if this team had a Tex Winters or Budenholzer there is no telling how an X and O pairing with Monty's player development, on and off the court, would go.

And just so I'm not considered a sunshine pumper, Monty needs to work on his philosophy flexibility and game management, ie time outs ala Carlisle and rotations, which got better with health, but still took stretches to adjust to match up problems due to our one way specialists.

They don't quit and that is great...they just give up 4th quarter leads because of him though

Idk why ayers is so highly regarded? Also I think Fred Vinson will have a bigger role next season. At the end of the regular season we saw him design some plays during timeouts.
