Shawn Dawson (Israel) was mocked to us by draftexpress

6'6 195 SF/SG

-Terrific athlete who has good size/frame/length

-Very good around the rim and can finish. Quickness gives him an advantage and can use a variety of moves.

-Foul prone but a quick aggressive defender that can block shots/steal and get boards.

-Ball handling is solid but is a bit turnover prone

-Outside shooting is a question mark but showed improvement in his late season surge.

-Son of Joe Dawson

NBADraft Room has Chasson Randle PG/SG Stanford

6'2 180

-Not elite but well rounded on the physical side

-Accomplished scorer who is an excellent outside shooter. Dangerous off the dribble and can also draw contact(!). Can create his own offense with ease.

-Has improved his assist rate this past season but needs more work.

-Has some defensive tools but it's more of an effort issue

-Likely a 2 in the NBA

CBS Has Richaun Holmes(SF/PF Bowling Green and SF/SG Josh Richardson(Tenn)

Richardson

6'6 200

-6'10 wingspan with great athletcism and quickness, strong first step and has no trouble in the open court.

-Rock solid ball handler and passer for a wing(3.6 asts)

-Not the greatest finisher but his improved there and has a good outside shot that's developed since his freshman year(24.3 to 36% 3point). Quality catch and shoot guy.

-One of the higher steal rates in the nation and has defensive tools. Good energy to complement his physical tools.

A 3+D prospect that could turn into a bit more

Holmes

6'10 243

-Drastically improved his overall offensive game in his college career. He has showed flashes of 3 point prowess and is a quality outside shooter inside as well.

-Great footwork and has the ability to grab offensive rebounds and box out.

-Great Athleticism/Frame 6'10 with a 7'1 1/2 wingspan 34" no step vertical.

-One of the better shot blockers in the country(2.7 a game) and has great instincts. A really solid post defender as well.

-MAC defensive POTY

-Ball handling needs work and could use lower body strength.

-Jumper has improved but offensive game still needs polish.

Nbadraftnet has Luka Mitrovic (serbia) SF/PF

quote:

Strenghts: Standing 6-foot-8 he has a solid structure and long arms with a frame that should allow him to put on some muscles without struggling ... He is a solid athlete despite not being extremely explosive, he’s mobile and smooth running the floor ... Offensively he shows solid shooting skills for the role, especially as a spot up shooter – basically in pick and pop situations – beyond three point line ... His mobility allows him to be really effective in P&R, where he shows good timing and a sense of position after the screen, for the cut to the rim of the pick and pop ... In addition, he’s also really effective in transition, when he can exploit his speed and motor compared to the size ... He has good lateral speed and footwork, making him a reliable defender also vs. backcourt players despite the size ... He has quick hands and solid instincts in the passing lanes which makes him a good stealer ... He has the potential and the technical skills to play in post position even if not yet developed. Great motor, and intensity, really effective in off the ball game ...

Weaknesses: He’s a little undersized to play PF at NBA level, at least considering the traditional perception of the role, he could struggle in the paint against bigger and taller opponents ... He lacks explosiveness and a quick first step to play in the backcourt on a constant basis ... Furthermore, he still needs to bulk up a lot to face the physicality of the NBA level ... He could be considered a tweener by NBA standards, since his game is based on facing the basket and he lacks post game and proper PF fundamentals ... He’s more a finisher than a creator, he needs to be set up in order to be effective offensively.

I went to NBADraft.net and learned there is a first round of the draft. I had forgotten that existed. Interesting.

New Orleans promised to take a decade off from the first round as part of the back room negotiations when the AD lottery was rigged.

It's sad, but I had completely forgotten when the draft was. It is a non-event under Demps.

And because of that we made the playoffs this year and expect to do so next year. Had we kept the picks we'd probably wondering if we were better than Utah and Sac, not Dallas and Portland.

Probably. All depends on if we ever see a healthy Jrue and if Asik even stays around. Absent those two situations, what would we have to show for the last 3 drafts?

Jrue coming back healthy is huge. If he doesn't it's not unrecoverable, but you really have to hit homeruns with cap space when he expires.

FWIW MM said to keep an eye on richardson. He could be player dell/gentry really likes.

Holmes is the best player on this list but he might not drop this far.

I hate to ask it this way, but since we are drafting in the middle of the 2nd round, are we going to get a player that does anything more than play in the D-League? Any reason to be excited over anyone we get?

Russ Smith helped turn Rivers into Pondexter. On the other hand Darius Miller didn't give us much of anything. That's where your expectations should lie, between nothing and a trade throwin. Anything more is highly unlikely.

It varies greatly

You COULD find a parsons/draymond/IT2/Ginobili in the 2nd but you could also find end of bench guys.

There's nothing wrong on the mid case of a solid 7th to 9th guy thats a mainstay for years.

This draft more than recent ones has guys that can be strong role players so its a little more likely you hit.

And who the hell downvoted my OP

There is a difference between 2nd rounder and pick 56 IMO. Specifically, a pick like 31-38 (where hits aren't that rare) and #56.

This isn't a ploy to get myself more clicks, but I did cover this in detail, as I researched guys who have become rotation players pick 50 or later over the last 9 years and how to identify them

LINK

In addition to the guys I listed back then, Larry Nance, Jr and Josh Richardson fit the profile too.

I had such high aspirations for miller. He was such a tease. I still believe he could've been better than what he was. Seemed like he was too safe and was scared to take risks and make plays.

You're not better than Portland...
