Probably a moot point since we're never healthy, but what do you think the minutes look like once Jose and Trey are back?

A guess...

Jonas - 25
Zion - 33
Ingram - 34
Herb - 34
CJ - 33

Trey - 30
Nance - 15
Jose - 19
Dyson - 10

Naji/Hawkins/Zeller/Ryan - 7 depending on the matchup which one might get in the game.

Kira completely out of the lineup.

Unfortunately, I think Naji gets more minutes than we expect or want

What you are seeing right now from many teams is a preseason type roll out in a sense.

Teams playing a good bit of guys due to the upcoming new in season tournament setup.

You see this blanketed usually in Oct/Nov/Dec and after the New Year the rotations tighten up dramatically. After the All-Star break is also the final push on that.

I would think with the tournament teams with younger groupings that likely won't make a real championship push this year may go all out for this.

I don't think serious contenders with older players make a run at the tournament play stuff...

Yours looks pretty good right out of the box.

For what will actually happen, I'm fairly certain we'll run a 10 man rotation as I don't think 9 man is something really any team does for long stretches of time in the regular season nowadays.

With that, i'd like to see finding a way to get 8-10 minutes for Hawkins as the 10th guy.

I think you have to say it like this:

JV/Larry - 40 with Zion getting the other 8 minutes at the 5.
Zion/Trey - 48 minutes at the 4
BI/Herb - 68 minutes of the possible 96 at the 2/3 position, with Trey getting a few minutes here as well when not at the 4. I would assume Trey is at the 4 when Zion is at the 5, so i'd only expect to see Trey get maybe 6-8 minutes at the 3. that leaves about 20 minutes for Dyson/Hawkins.
CJ/Jose - 48 minutes at the 1, with Jose getting about 18 minutes and CJ getting 30.
I expect CJ/BI/Zion/Herb/Trey to play 30+ mpg

When guys get hurt is when Naji and Ryan can play, and you can just about always expect someone to be dinged up. If JV/Larry/Zion/Trey are healthy, Zeller won't touch the floor. When one is out, then he can play for a few minutes.
Kira won't play unless Jose or CJ are hurt.
EJ isn't playing unless Zion and another big get hurt.

and to point out how i've divvied this up, Trey and Zion would only share the court for about 16mpg, despite both playing 30mpg+.
I think it will be interesting to see what lineups work the best this year, assuming we have relative good health for a good chunk of games with our main core of CJ/BI/Zion/Trey/Herb

This but if Dyson doesn’t get those free throw issues fixed, I can see him losing minutes to Naji

Ok, since I posted this initially, there have been some things we've learned. Notably, Nance is now horrible and Hawkins is a stud.

Naji also looks like he deserves minutes.

It's a good problem to have.

22 - Jonas
32 - Zion
32 - Ingram
32 - Herb
32 - CJ

That leaves 90 minutes for the bench.

30 - Trey
20 - Jose
15 - Hawkins
15 - Dyson
10 - Nance, Naji, Ryan

Problem with that is we have zero big depth.

We have a glut at G/SF. It makes a ton of sense to trade BI for a big. But I just don't know what trade would be out there.

Does it? Would we want to invest that much in a big (unless it is a star type player)?

BI for KAT straight-up works. You would get KAT for 3 more years at roughly 3 million more than BI, but BI will get significantly more when he signs his next deal.

It would balance out both rosters pretty well, with KAT replacing JV (who we should also trade) and allowing Trey to start. BI would be an excellent running mate with Edwards and would free up the front court for Rudy.

I dont think you realize that other than shooting the three and rebounding KAT does not do other things very well. He gets in foul trouble, plays shite defense, not really a playmaker, has health issues and has disappeared several times in playoffs. To top it off he’s not some cheap guy either. BI has issues but talk to Wolves fans and they’ll bitch about KAT all day as well.

If you start KAT and Zion together- you might as well just say we will have the worst paint defense in the league. Again a reason why wolves paid a ransom to get Gobert.

Imo, as much as I love Jose, Hawkins won't get fewer minutes than him. Maybe the same, but not fewer.

CJ getting a bit up in age will likely lose a few to Hawkins. CJ might be closer to 26-28 to keep him fresher/healthier during the season.

Agreed, though I think CJ gets much more come playoffs (yeah I know). Also, it's not just about who's better, but also fit and roles. IE Jose is a better fit when CJ sits, where as Hawk can play next to either but won't fit CJ's role as well as Jose. IF this team can stay healthy (lol) then I think breakdown would go something like this:

BI and Herb - 36
Zion and CJ - 34
Trey - 26
Jonas - 22
Jose - 14 (all of CJ's bench)
Nance - 14
Hawkins and Dyson - 12

I think that with Hawkins playing so well you have to tweak the lineup for Trey at the 3/4. Now that Naji is back and Jose is close we have a lot of rotation at 1/2/3.

Realistically Nance/ Val should shrink to 30/35 max mostly all at the 5. That gives Trey a full 30min at SF/ PF/ C without messing with the guard rotation much.

CJ- 30
Jose- 15
Herb- 32
Hawkins- 15
Dyson- 15
BI- 31
Trey- 32
Zion- 31
Val-20
Nance-10min

Naji/ Ryan- (9min) or an extra 9 min split for Hawk/ Jose/ Dyson/ Val. The hot hand minutes.

There’s no reason we should have 4+ guys playing well over 30 minutes with this squad. Build some sustainability and learn to rely on our bench guys more so it doesn’t bite us in the arse.

I guess I should do a better job of explaining myself. This is a playoff type must win game rotation. Also though, Willy tends to play 10 but still go big minutes with his top guys, so I don't think this is too out of the realm of what a normal game will look like either.

Naji/ Ryan could get a few minutes. Hawkins/ Jose/ Dyson would probably just split their 45 min based on matchup/ hot hand/ chemistry.

Naji sort of went from scrappy,
hustling sub to a goat ( lower case, not in caps)
