I don't care if you and the group of PTers that live their lives just to trash others comments/threads say this thread sucks. It would be one thing if this team had multiple sfs capable of starting in this league on the roster but we don't. Not too many options left on the table in FA, so for you to just say this thread sucks is baseless. Beasley's inability to play defense can be overshadowed by Asik/ADs defense, and if we got him super cheap who knows if he pans out. The talent is there... it just needs to be tapped correctly.

His skillset doesn't fit with this team at all.
We don't need a ball dominant SF

You have yet to state what is so great about Beasely. So far you have said he is a head case and doesn't play defense, but yet he has some magical potential.

If he was on a minimum contract I would be cool with it. I think people are being too harsh. If he becomes a problem on a minimum del you cut his arse. It would be worth the rik IMO.
The only problem is I thought we were already going to end up with 15 on the roster. So there would not be room.

I would rather a rent a Caron Butler for a year type deal until we can move EG.

Take a deep breath.

The team had 2 holes in the starting lineup. They filled one. While I understand wanting to fill both, doing that in one offseason wasn't ever very realistic unless you were prepared to create another hole somewhere else.

If this is true, then it would be true of any SF and the question is why do you think we need a legit scorer at SF? Going from Aminu's offensive liability to Salmons' reliable corner 3 will be a significant upgrade. The Pelicans were #13 in offensive rating with Holiday and Ryno missing so many games and Aminu starting at SF. We all want to upgrade the SF position, but I don't think it's as big of a need as you're thinking. Would you be happy with Danny Green at SF? Salmons isn't as good as Green, but he definitely can fill a similar role, and his 3P% in the corners (an area of weakness for the Pels) isn't that far off from Green's 3P% from his preferred spot on the wings, 43% and 56% for Green on each wing and 40% and 50% for Salmons in each corner.

I really hope Salmons has something left in the tank. No need for him to be a "star", just fill a role.
ETA: His last couple of years have been less than "stellar".

he is a SF/PF tweener, like Babbit and Anderson. He wouldn't really give us anything those guys don't already.
I think he's probably a little better defender than those guys, but not as good a shooter. He really is just living off of potential that people saw in college. At a certain point, what he's done in the NBA (or hasn't done in the NBA) is what he is. A headcase who isn't that good.

why haven't the Thunder signed Beasley? He is best friends with Durant and could play along side him (if Ibaka played more Center at times). Would seem to be a good gamble for them..
That makes sense. Unless Durant thinks he will be a distraction or something.

Upon acquiring Beasley, then Timberwolves president David Kahn called him "a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana" before he arrived in Minnesota. Beasley was later pulled over for speeding and cited for marijuana possession by Minnesota police during the 2011 lockout. He also shoved a fan in the face during a lockout exhibition game in New York and sued his former AAU coach, alleging that he had received improper benefits during his one season at Kansas State.
sounds like too much trouble for me

If he had Spreewell's rap sheet, than I might have seen a need for him on this team...

If Tyreke gets the majority of his minutes at the 3, then I feel like both holes have been filled (for this season). At least until we get out from under Gordon's contract, move Evans to his natural position (SG), and sign a legit SF.
