Demps says he doesn't "anticipate" moving up.

quote:

"At 45," Demps said, "you try to get the best player available. We're optimistic. We've got a list of guys. We've been watching film, and we've watched guys throughout the year. We're hoping to find somebody who can help us next year, but at 45, it' s a risk. The majority of guys don't have impact at (that spot) in the NBA, but we'll look at it.

"There are some things on the board (that would entice a move up) but the price is pretty high so I don't anticipate us jumping into the first. Who knows? Anything can happen. We've identified some guys we'd like in the first round, but I don't anticipate that happening. Something could change in the next 24 hours, but I don't anticipate it."

Kinda handcuffed without an owner. Can't buy a pick, and probably can't pick up any salary.

I don't anticipate us moving up either, but I don't think he would come out and say that we're going to trade up. He sounded pretty honest, but he didn't close the door on the chance that we do something. This is truly a case of wait and see.

Hornets don't get anyone good from the draft.

Right. It's all about doing your research on certain guys and choosing the best guy available and there's always guys who don't get choose that could jump on the team undrafted. So researching is key, and I'm glad with who we have now, that they've been researching like they say.

I am cool with it. Let's just look to add a player or players in FA.

I am interested to see how Gray and QPon improve this coming season.

There's a third option "not tipping his hand".

But it's probably a rare moment of truth. At least in part.

yeah, same here. I think since Q is past his first season he'll be more ready to shoot. That was my only gripe with him, because he's a good defender.

And Gray is always great

:sigh:

I hate trading draft picks, although there isn't much left after the lottery anyway.

We've actually been fairly good picking up solid players in the draft....we just never keep them.

I'm betting there will be a steal in this draft. Someone who in 15 years we will look back and not believe all the teams that passed on him. I hope we get him.

signing old veterans with championship experience is the best route.
