It may not be. He and Demps are in year 1 of 4 year extensions. Benson and Loomis are in year 2 of Demps/Monty, not year 4 like the rest of us. The replacement candidate pool could be pretty empty. George Karl's age makes him a temporary solution, and if you fire Monty now it'd be in an effort to please STHs, but will they really be excited about another unknown like an assistant or college coach? If they view Demps and Monty as a package deal, the replacement GM pool is even thinner. The standard play most have been making is picking a guy from the Spurs tree, is whoever is left on the Spurs tree really going to be better than Demps?
