@shameless pel... U may be correct, but not sure if Gentry values defense as much as Monty did. I'm sure he does to an extent, but Seth's shooting is vastly superior to Cole and Larry is impressing with his vision which means he is picking up Gentry's system to the point where that may be more valuable than Norris being a back up, defensive point guard.

I think I would rather sign a quality defensive minded wing that can guard 2nd teamers, or add a 3 point shooting wing for space with Ryno. Not sure who's out there than can fit the bill but I got a feeling if Cole gets a decent offer from another team, we won't match.

Just a little too quiet on Norris right now to say we really want to resign him. I mean they closed and signed on everybody within the 1st few days of free agency... If Norris was a priority, I just feel the deal would be done by now.

Seth picked the Pelicans for a reason, Gentry, and to this point he is proving he at least deserves a camp invite and if he keeps improving his dribble drive game to go along with his above average shooting, I think Gentry and Dell gives him a deal he surely would take, with the mindset that there is playing time to be earned early to prove he belongs in the rotation or at least on the 12 man roster.

Based on summer league and the DLeague?

We have gee for the former

It's obvious they want to get an idea of what his market is.

They have his bird rights and he's restricted so there's no rush.

His 3 point shot has been poor

He(and drew 2) deserve a look but no more than 14th-15th men(3rd PGs)

I'd rather Phil Pressey than either one tbh.

No it isn't. We gave him an offer to sign. HE hasn't signed it yet. The way the system works for RFAs is if he want's more money he has to convince another team to offer him more money. He hasn't found another offer yet and while we are fine giving him $3 million for 1 year, we obviously don't want to give him as much as he is hoping for and there is no reason to budge unless someone forces the team's hand.

Restricted Free Agency is designed to give the team most of the leverage. If nobody offers Cole he has no choice but to accept the Pels best long term offer (if there is one) or sign the QO and play out the year. The only reason to speed things up from the Pels end is if they suspected he was close to getting an offer sheet they didn't want to match, but the only chatter we've heard on Cole was a very flimsy rumor about Philly that didn't pass the sniff test.

From Cole's perspective, there's no reason to believe the Pels are going to withdraw the QO anytime soon so why not wait as long as you can in hopes of getting an offer sheet?

A similar situation happened with Minnesota and Pekovic a few years ago. Everyone knew Minny would match so nobody offered and Pek just didn't want to sign what Minny had on the table and it took until a few weeks into August for them to reach an agreement. LINK

I'm more concerned that no one else wants him.

At least 5 teams wanted him at the deadline. Teams know the pels can match.

Your continued vitriol towards him is very odd.

Don't like him. He started out like a house of fire at Miami as well.

Do you like any minimum players more than him? Because if he signs his QO, that $3m only makes a difference to Benson. Letting him walk doesn't free up any money for someone else, we can sign as many min guys we want. And his well-over-min contract could be useful if we make a deal at the trade deadline.
