Last year they have signed DeRozan to the fat contract. They did not have to but they decided that it is the best way.

Looks similar like with Jrue...

But I don't want Jrue back he isn't worth $15MM let alone $24MM

I dont think he's worth $24m either, but its rather dumb to say he isnt worth $15m. Every team in the league would gladly take him at $15M.

That's how the Solo for Batum trade would work with similar numbers

Where has that idea been mentioned?

MM threw that out in one of his offseason paths articles I think. I've never thought it was that realistic but Charlotte looks maxed out roster wise and still missed the playoffs. This build is bad so they probably should either blow it up or do some major remodeling.

The thinking was the Pels operate under the cap to do an uneven trade. This idea was pre-Boogie IIRC which made that easier. Charlotte gets salary relief and a pick. Pels get a 2 way wing creator to take some of the play making load off Holiday.

If DC is engaged defensively, that could be a top 5 defensive team in the making.

Well a defense is only as strong as it's weakest link, but yeah, if that group started playing well together and DC was able to defend the high pick effectively, they would be a very very good defensive team.

I almost feel bad for the Raptors.
They are a good team, but not good enough to even make the finals much less win them, yet they really have no way of getting better, unless they have a draft pick that they get really lucky on.
They resign Lowry, and they have to deplete their bench and can't sign anyone but minimum guys. They don't resign him, they're a lower seeded playoff team at best that'll never make it out the first round.

If Lowry doesn't resign, they really will have to consider trading Derozan.

I totally agree. The one thing that would be in this units favor is that it isn't like DC just doesn't have the talent or athletic ability to guard, but moreso that he just doesn't seem to care at times. Which some may argue is even worse.

Hmm, that's an interesting idea. If we resigned Jrue, trading for Batum instead of a lead guard would be an interesting route to take. I wouldn't be opposed to it, if we couldn't land a guard like Bledsoe or Rubio. But like you, I'd be surprised if Charlotte was open to it. They could probably get more for Batum than an overpriced wing and a non-lottery first round pick. Interesting idea for sure.

if you are medicore and don't have a room to upgrade you are doing bigger trades

Batum is relatively old, had a bad season
Even Hill is not considered leaguewide as a thrash. believe me.

Hornets are a team which might move some of their main players
