Does it suck that we had to pay him 25m? Yes. What were the other options?

He's a third option that just put up 14/6/5 and added 4 steals and lockdown defense... Stop bitching. We'd be far more fricked without him.

Holiday ended with 14 pts on 54.5% shooting 6 asts 5 rebs and 4 steals. Ideally he’d have a few more buckets and fewer turnovers (4), but that’s not a bad night.

I’d like to see breakdown between first and second half. Whole team was garbage second half but I felt like jrue was particularly so just by the eyeball test

I felt like cousins was really bad in the 2nd half. He was clearly frustrated. I may be wrong.

LINK

Jrue Holiday second half stats:
1-4, 2-2 FT, 3 assists, 3 turnovers, 3 fouls.

So yeah, not good. And its bad when the guy that drove to New York to catch an early morning flight to LA because you just signed him, who never played with these players, arguably had a more consistent impact running the offense than you.

I think one thing I have observed in every game so far is that you can clearly tell Cousins and AD grew up in the NBA with losing organizations.

Like Tyreke back in the day, when other teams seem to go on a run they almost reflexively go into hero mode instead of riding the tide playing the team game that built your lead. That instead of slowing the bleeding rips open the wound further more often than not. It makes sense when its all you got, but not when you have another superstar next to you and some role players that are actually playing well.

My guess is it will take more than a few games to change those habits.

The Pelicans are much better with Jrue on the floor than without him

3 turnovers

He dribbled the ball off his foot twice, and tripped on his own feet twice but was able to recover the ball one of those times. That's his 3 turnovers.
I don't understand how someone so athletic can do this that often. Seems like he misdribbles the ball at least once a game. That should happen once every 7 or 8 games, not every game.

I’ve said it before but I really wonder what he does in the offseasons and during his recoveries?

Almost any other player of Jrue’s billing or above consistently adds wrinkles and improves their core competencies throughout their career. That competitive spirit and determination of athletes of that level almost always evokes it, but not really with Jrue.

The guy is about the same skillset wise, IQ wise, effort wise, and efficiency wise as he was the year before he got to New Orleans. I know injuries and all that but it is just sort of crazy to not really have advanced much over a career. Even Tryreke Evans did a fair to decent job trying to rebuild his jump shot and continually hone his core competencies. Stepping outside the Nola bubble you can look at Embiid who despite being oft injured added a respectable three point game and continually improved his post skills. Jrue just looks like he rested on his laurels at some point in Philly and that’s that. It’s just maintenance training and practice at this point.

Can he still run a layup drill with either hand, though?
