The Jimmer revenge tour starts now!

Shams Charania @ShamsCharania 2 minutes ago
Jimmer Fredette, 2nd pick in D-League draft, has signed with the New Orleans Pelicans under hardship exception, league sources tell Yahoo.

quote:

A hardship can be deemed to exist when a team has four players who are sick or injured and have missed at least three games, and will continue to be unable to play. If a hardship is granted, the hardship ends when one of the sick or injured players is physically able to resume playing. The team must then release player(s) to get back to the roster limit, although teams have the option to retain the hardship player and release a different player to get back to the limit.

So as soon as one of Asik/QPon/Cole/Tyreke comes back, one of Jimmer/Douglas/Ish has to go.

How bad is our current PG situation? I think there's a chance this could help.

Really? We use it on Jimmer? A guy who we've seen first hand can't do anything?

Jimmer missed a TON of open shots last season. He's always been a good shooter before Monty and having to look over his shoulder at Austin Rivers, so I wouldn't be that surprised if things worked out better this time. I also wouldn't be surprised if he's released as soon as Asik/QPon are ready. But let's not assume Monty broke him and he can't shoot any more just yet.

I'm definitely not getting my hopes up. His one job was to make 3s and he sucked at it. It just seems like they could take a chance on someone else who could maybe surprise them.

We're 0-6 and we've signed Nate, Toney, and Ish. You think Demps has a promising PG prospect's agent on speed dial and didn't make the call?

Bring back Pargo while we're at it.

No I'm not expecting a promising PG prospect. But I'm pretty sure we can find someone more useful than Jimmer.

I thought we'd go after a defensive wing or another big to help AD. Jimmer doesn't fit the narrative IMO

And i got mocked on here for suggesting that we should have made a real push at Seth. I kinda rather Larry Drew over Jimmer.

Teams will have to respect Jimmer's shot unlike Douglas and Ish

The problem was that he got 2 guaranteed years from Sacramento. I'm not sure what moves Demps has planned, but not caving to Cole suggested they were done tying up 2016 cap space.

Did Larry Drew sign with anyone? He showed some potential in SL.

TBW linked to a yahoo article with some interesting quotes on Jimmer.

quote:

"Jimmer thinks everybody is stupid," said an NBA assistant who worked with Fredette. "He thinks everybody needs to come and just turn over their offense and let him shoot it anytime he wants. That's not how the league works."

...The situation seemed to be his last best chance to stick around in a selfless Spurs system that has revived a few stagnant careers. But the NBA assistant coach never expected the partnership to go anywhere.

"He won't adjust his game for it," he said. "He'll tell you, 'This is what I did at BYU.' Well, BYU, that's a long time ago."

..."In college everything was geared around him," his former coach said. "He's had to learn how to play off other people here, and that's been a struggle for him."
