The players are better. It’s hard to determine intent.

He’s no different than the past failed coaches that they’ve had. Team only plays well in spurts. Under achieves the rest of the time. Can’t believe I fell for his shite

he did win 42 games with our 3 star players playing 10 games together.

We've only had 3 other winning seasons in the past 13 years.

Gentry has Jrue fricking holiday, Ingram's and Zion baw. There's really no excuses for the guy.

SVG lost the team very early on. He had a healthy Zion and BI. Nothing was saving that train wreck.

Right, tho he dealt with some injuries, still had better players than what the record ended up being. Same thing Willie deals with. Neither are good coaches and I don’t think they quit on gentry, he was just incompetent

So again, if the obvious injuries aren't a valid excuse for Willie, then what are the tangible reasons in terms of schemes/rotation that they are better?

Kings have an offensive identity that’s more than just iso ball. They constantly play with pace, they let shooters shoot. They get shooters open. It’s simple things that they do and we don’t.

OKC has the youngest team in the league and are better than us rn. They develop most their talent. They’re playing well without Chet. We seem to struggle with that or it’s coinflip. That coach deserves credit. They shot 3s, drive to the rim, and get to the ft line. Our philosophy is shot midrange shots and rely on our main guys to go iso heavy.

OKC was never gifted a number 1 or two type player in the drafts(besides Chet). They just know how to develop

I do think Willie does a good job getting guys to buy in on effort defensively. That’s about it tho.

I've defended Willie for a while on the thought that he connected well with players and just needs better assistants for Xs and Os, but I'm less confident now that he connects with players to communicate any message. We don't know.

However, we do know that he couldn't coach his way out of a chik fil a drive thru line.

Great head coaches have good assistants but they aren't dependent on good assistants. Great head coaches can churn through assistants and still find success.

This is a pretty funny thread.

When Zion was fricking killing motherfrickers and Pels were the one seed even without Ingram Willie was getting COTY votes from a lot of people on this board.

Then Zion and Jose go down, and we're down our 2 best players and our 3rd has a fricked up shooting hand. Willie get B.I. back, they go on a run to get to the play-in, are still down Nance, Zion, and Jose, lose, and Willie is a shite coach.

Give me a fricking break.

Murphy told you last week Willie is a shite coach. If you’re still defending him at this point you either don’t watch the games or are just delusional.

Short answer, no.

I'm not ready to brand him a bad coach, but he hasn't been better than average. I'm not saying he can't improve and potentially become a good coach, but he kind of got exposed this year. We lost too many games to teams with less talent on the floor this year.
