A brand new poster popped up over on HR with a "my dad works for the Hornets and we just had someone important over for dinner" story. He had some interesting points and it's worth the short read.

The highlights are:
Gordon staying
Kaman likely going
Benson willing to amnesty Okafor if it's needed
Monty thinks Smiht could be the center of the future if he bulks up about 15 more pounds

Not sure if it's legit or not, but there's much more info about many other players and FA options and it's a better read than the latest tank talk LINK

I'd be surprised if amnesty was "needed" right now. This year you'd only do it to make room for someone like DWill or Howard, which isn't going to happen. I could see using Amnesty on him the next offseason though.

I like all of this. Just unsure about Smith being the center for the future. And saying that we're not going to focus on the 2 guard is bold. No Beal, so hopefully the lottery is good to us.

I think I would really like it if we moved Smith to center barring he can add the necessary weight. Is it just me or is smith looking more and more like a huge steal for us?

I think he's replaced Beli as Demps best move when you factor the new contract in.

I really liked Smith at PF. Two 7 footers on the court is hard to guard

Agreed. We got Willie Green and Smith for Brackins and Songaila.

Him and Kaman play great together, idk why we would get rid of sasquatch....

but if we draft a legit PF and traded Kaman, I think that would be a great pair as well

He would be an expiring then... No way you amnesty a serviceable center on an expiring deal. It's either this offseason or not going to happen.

I love Smiht is a backup 4 and 5 getting significant minutes, running in different packages, and with the occasional starting minutes due to injury.

I don't like him as a starter. He's a perfect bench player on a competing team.

i said this a few weeks ago. if he can play the role of 6th man he played late last year but at the level (or above) that he's playing right now, then that's an amazing upgrade for the team. and i'd be extremely happy with that.

There will likely be very few trade options for Okafor where you take no money back, so if you need immediate cap space you would amnesty him. It'd have to be for signing a max or near max level player like CP3 or Josh Smith though.

Kaman isn't going anywhere. In fact Dell Demps would have to leave before Kaman leaves. Kaman is the unofficial fan favorite

Outside of Smith as a starting 5, the only thing that seemed weird to me from that link was the Landry talk.

All signs point to drafting a 4 in the lottery. There are too many options in the draft and the need is too big on this team. How does Landry fit with Smith, Ayon, lotto pick? Even if Smith plays more 5 than 4, I don't want Landry taking away minutes from our pick. And if he comes back at more than $4million per, I'll be disappointed

I don't get why Smith shouldn't start next year. Let me be the first to say this.. Jason Smith will be a better Center (going forward) than Chris Kaman. If you look at the numbers, Smith had the better year. Smith is younger, much cheaper and is getting better. Why would you pay Kaman 10 million, when you get the same production out of a guy making 2.5? And because he can get you starter's numbers, he is a great bench player? That doesn't make sense. If he performs like a starter.. start him. The team will draft a great young PF, they got depth with Ayon (plus Aminu can slide over in a pinch). Smith isn't needed at PF and let's be honest, he isn't a PF. Let him play his natural position..
