Ideal Coach? Ettore Messina

Instead of just saying Gentry stinks and pining for guys our ownership likely won't pony up for (JVG/Calipari), I would like to present the guy I think would be the ideal coach for this roster if they do move on from Gentry.
Ettore Messina is one of the most accomplished foreign coaches ever and has spent the last few years learning from the GOAT. For those totally unfamiliar, here is a good place to start to get to know him
LINK
We also had him in the coaching competition a few years back

I like him but what do you think about James Borrengo he's on staff with the spurs has experience in Nola with Monty and I liked the way his team played with magic after he took over for Vaugh

I have been screaming for this guy for awhile. He deserves an opportunity. Would be a fantastic hire

These high IQ up and comers are working out more often than not for teams it seems. I wonder if he'd have the clout to contain our egos, it's my biggest concern. Seems like NBA is a notoriety league.

Yeah I remember being intrigued by both him and Kenny Atkinson last time around.

He is 57, has had a ton of international success and has the approval of Pop. If guys don't respect him, then frick them

Yeah, Blatt didn't work out with LeBron so Messina does give me pause. Although it sounds like there was an arrogance factor involved with Blatt. "When I won in Europe we did it this way so you listen to me" type of demanding respect instead of earning it.

Yeah I don't see Messina being like that at all
LeBron and blatt each wanted things their way but that's not an issue here.

A guy like this would be great but I have no idea If he knows how to handle DMC. That's a new dynamic for us now

Messina shared several insights into his belief about the X’s and O’s in an article he published online. It reads like a manifesto of sorts. In it he states that one of the most important things that he focuses on throughout the course of a season is getting his players to learn to read the defense.
Our players must be able to read the defensive behavior of their opponents. Any offense can be original, but if the player on offense is not able to understand what the defense does, he loses effectiveness and our offense slows down.
He also states that his teams needed a minimum of 20 FGAs per game from the post. He talks about how the team should constantly look for opportunities to get the ball to the Center, where the defense is most forced to react. Messina is known for his development of post players and it seems clear from that article that he values low post players quite a bit. That isn’t to say that he only focuses on scoring from the post. His diagrams are full of all types of plays and the emphasis on getting the ball into the post seems more like "step 1" rather than the end goal. In a separate interview while with the Lakers, he talked about the importance of floor balance and ball movement.

You've made it pretty clear that you think this organization has no clue what they're doing, there's no hope, etc
Why, then, are you wasting everyone's time talking about Messina?

After full training camps and hundreds of practices, sure.

I would like to get rid of Gentry but I have wanted to since we hired him. I do not know who to replace him with.
But Gentry does not any pieces to work with right now.
