Forgive my sunshine pumping post but I am very positive about the current squad especially since the recent addition of Clark.

AD/Boogie can be a more athletic version of Gasol and Randolph.

Jrue seemed to struggle a lot last year figuring how to run the offense with AD and Boogie. I think Rando will have a much easier time with that given his track record and will allow Jrue to work off the ball which I believe he is also well suited. Adding Clark gives them a floor spacer that was desperately needed.

I know the West is loaded but I think the 5th seed is definitely attainable. No matter what this team should be fun to watch.

If we get anything better than a 7 seed I'll be very happy. That means the Pels have gotten very close to 50.

1. GSW
2. SA
3. Hou
4. OKC

Sure Min acquired some good talent but they are unproven. Clippers and Utah lost their best player. Denver has some nice pieces but lacks superstars.

Like I said, I really think 5 is within reach. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if we finished 10th.

I realize it's the primary comparison we have, but at it's peak Gasol/ZBo was a 30/18 combo, I fully expect AD/DC to be a 50/22 kind of combo.

They are 2 deep at PG and star scoring big, key positions where an injury to either derailed the team the past few years. They also have more capable role players than minutes. That's the kind of team that can survive injury and over achieve in the 82 game regular season grind.

I really think they are going to be the "surprise" team of the season and be firmly in the 4-6 range rather than the playoff bubble team that most are expecting.

Houston is a CP3 yearly injury away from a 7 seed

Gotcha. My point was that a 2 big combo can work in today's game. IMO Boogie and Gasol are very comparable but AD and Randolph are not. Slow plodding PF worked so you would think a much more athletic one who still is powerful enough to play in the paint should work better.

Plus the more I read on Rondo the more I think he will be a good fit. Sure he has some baggage and not a good shooter from outside but there is no question in my mind that he is an excellent distributor athe point and really wants to win (lot of his baggage seems to be calling out people who are on cruise control). He is just the kind of guy to bring this team together.

Eta to correctly spell Rondo's name

It was Noel + a first (top 5 protected) that ended up being Michael Carter Williams at the #10 spot. Noel is now a RFA for the Mavericks and Michael Carter Williams is terrible and just got a 1 year deal with the Hornets. Both of those guys gone, Holiday is still on the Pelicans.

The Cousins trade you do 10/10 times.

The Asik deal, that is where I want to rip my hair out.

Don't make the initial trade, take nerlens. dont ever make the trade for asik.

We went: 34-48, he had a 2 game win share, so puts us at 32-50...where the Cavs were when they landed the #1 pick, facilitate a trade for Thompson. GS never becomes elite.

Take Wiggins or still get the #10 pick and take Lavine. Ultimately, trade Lavine for Butler

SO MANY POSSIBILITIES

Really hope you're right. I hope Rondo has the fire to push Jrue to play with more emotion. I hope he see's this team as his last chance to win and gives it everything. Brings that veteran grit that these young bucks need a taste of.

Let's gooooooo

That would be awesome. I don't think Jrue has ever been lazy, but I've never seen him getting psyched up late in games. Maybe some attitude could get him being more aggressive as well. If Rondo can turn a typically aggressive for ~20 games per season Jrue into an aggressive for ~35 games Jrue, that would be big.

Plus it's nice to have a guy that will call out Jrue when he's playing like an a-hole. Cousins might, but no one else on the team last season would. He was obviously dealing with a lot off court last season, so that wouldn't have necessarily been a good time for a Rondo type. But now that all is well with his wife, I'd like to see Rondo tear into Jrue when he's playing scared.

I know that Jrue will never be an elite offensive player, but we've seen him play like a B+ guy on that end. Unlike a lot of people, I'm almost certain that Rondo will 100% buy in to this team and that he'll be locked in; however, I don't think that his ceiling will be as high as some people here. Best case scenario (which I do think we'll get close to) is ~90% of what Rubio provided the Wolves last season. But I do think that his leadership will have a bigger impact on the team than QPon's did in that playoff season. I'm 99% sure that AD/DC will click and tear shite up. I think that Jrue is the wildcard that will make the difference between a 7th seed and a 4 or 5 seed. Rondo being an adequate ~25mpg player and pressuring Jrue to be his best will be massive.

I'm high on this team as well, and i believe another move will be made pretty soon. I just don't see us going into the season with this many combo guards.
I still believe Moore, Ajincia, and our 2nd around pick will be package together for a good shooting wing player.

There is not enough minutes for
Holiday
Jackson
Clark
Crawford
Moore
Cooke
something got to give, and i believe that something is Moore being moved.
