That's why if KD did come here, the possibility of AD being our guy could shift to being KD being our guy, bc Durant is obviously very talented and the argument could be made who's team this would be. What if KD dropped 33 a game in the 2017 NBA finals and led the pelicans to a championship while AD took a secondary role, and then KD averaged say 26-27 a game in the finals the next season while AD averaged around the same and that was the climax of their careers? I would absolutely love to see that happen I really would. BUT, what if AD had that 1 season (like breezes in 08-09) and single-handedly leads the team to a ring? How could you say that wouldn't be just as satisfying to whereas AD took a secondary role and let KD split the load 50/50?

I'm not sure about you, but I'm a Pelicans fan first and foremost, I'm only an AD fan because he plays for the Pelicans.

The best analogy to this dumb question is the Miami Heat when Lebron joined DWade. It was always Wade's team until Lebron got there. Do you honestly think Miami Heat fans would give up the run they had simply because Lebron carried them rather than Wade?

Holy crap dude. AD alone cannot make you a championhip team. It takes more than one player. It will take another really good superstar, like KD, as well as several other players who play really well. Either way, winning two championships is ALWAYS better than winning just one, no matter how you get them. You're greatly overthinking this.

I don't think the OPs question is that ridiculous. He should qualify it better with AD retiring a Pelican like Duncan is going to do with the Spurs or something along those lines. He's simply assuming that AD loves the city and wants to win a title for the city. AD's legacy to this city doing it himself would be completely different vs. doing it with another top 5-10 player. If AD were to retire a Pel, and we are choosing between 1 or 2 titles over a 5 year period only, I could easily see myself taking the 1. It just has such an "us against the world" feel to it. The emotion behind a Warriors-esque run vs. expecting to compete for a title with a loaded roster is completely different.
