How long are we going to be able to keep Trey on the bench?

When everyone is healthy he’s our 6th man but the kid is a blooming star and would start anywhere else in the NBA right now. The trouble is the two positions he mainly plays are our 2 best players in Zion and BI. I wish Zion was 3 inches taller so he can play the 5 but it’s going to be really fun to see how they merge both Trey and Daniels into an already loaded roster.

At some point, CJ is going to be the odd man out with all the talent we have.

I think JV will continually lose minutes with the other four starters.

JV will always have a spot as he’s our true center. You have to have him but I agree it will be very matchup based. When Jonas is knocking down that 3 ball though it opens up another aspect of the offense.

We can only have 5 starters. Minutes are more important than starts anyway imo

Let me preface this by saying that I love Herb Jones, and I want him to be a Pelican forever.

But Trey is approaching that point where he has to start or at least play a consistent 30 minutes off the bench. He’s too good not to.

His combination of athleticism and shooting is insane. The game is slowing down for him offensively. The sky is the limit for him.

How long can you keep Dyson out of the starting 5?

I think a fixed starting line up is weird, you should play match ups and it should be fluid but that is not what the NBA does.

How long are you going to keep Dyson on the bench? And if they’re starting how long are you going to keep Herb on the bench? It’s like we won the lottery and we used the winnings to keep buying more tickets.

Man we have really lucked out in the draft for the last 2 years. Herb, Trey, Jose, Dyson.

Actually Jose was undrafted. My bad.

The NBA has always had incredible players who came off the bench. Trey will get big minutes. This fixation with who starts is silly. John Havlicek and Kevin McHale came off the bench for several years early in their careers and are Hall of Famers.

Dyson is going to take CJs starting spot eventually and trey just might take herbs starting spot if he keeps playing like this

Starting lineup 2 years from now is Dyson, BI, Herb, Trey, and Zion. That’s small but the offense will be good enough that it doesn’t matter

Only half joking lol

That really isn’t that small of a line-up from a length standpoint.

It’s a good problem to have regardless. This is without a doubt the deepest Pelicans team ever.

That is a reasonable line up especially if Dyson and Trey keep growing. 6'10" with shoes on is good enough to play the 5.

I really pray that the guys on our team aren’t as obsessed with who is starting as a lot of the posters on this site. Because if they are this magical chemistry we have won’t last.

What happens if Scoot Henderson falls into our laps?

It literally doesn't matter.

Feels like our fans aren't used to having a real team, with actual depth. Good teams have guys that would be starting other places. Its a good thing.

It sure is. Deepest in franchise history dating back to the Charlotte years as well.
