How hot do you think David Griffin's seat currently is?

I'm talking about with Ownership, not necessarily with fans and the media.

On a scale of 0-10, with 0 being absolutely no heat whatsoever, to 10 being a firing is imminent.

With a guy like Zion on your roster already as good as he is, as big of a celebrity as he is...there's already a tremendous amount of pressure to win from external forces.

My current thought it is currently at 4ish with Gayle/Lauscha. It was probably at a 0 or 1 going into this past offseason. So it is definitely heating up.

If we look like this after the trade deadline next season, I'd say its on fire. 9ish.

It is not hot at all. You are looking more from a fan's perspective. From ownership, I would be it is a 1 or at the very worst, a 2. They will give him time.

I'd say this is normally the case...but with Zion this whole thing has to be cranked up a few degrees.

Like one more season's worth of time. Zion isn't a project. He's a top 20 player now, and Griff whiffed on Adams and Bledsoe and failed to move a mercurial player in Lonzo. Pels should have playoff expectations for next year with noise with the assets we have to acquire better players.

I think so too. They HAVE to show some semblance of taking a step towards winning next season or I think Griffin will be shown the door. They cannot afford to waste too much time and they know this. Blowing 3 years will be long enough.

IF you believe another failure year next year gets him fired (10), then you have to think its higher than a 1-2 right now.

3. Need to greatly improve next season or it becomes a 6-7. Then two years from now we should be making it deep into the playoffs.

Should be an 8.5

It's like an actual .5.

Griffin is 99% fraud.

I think next year we need to be in the playoffs. Not the play in. Playoffs.

That year after that we have to be AT LEAST a 2nd round type team.

naw

things are going to be a lot different next season. he also has some major decisions including (1) how he deals with Zo's contract (2) another lottery pick and (3) what we do with Bledsoe. if we suck in a similar fashion in a year, that's going to ramp up the heat exponentially

Agreed. That's what I meant if it wasn't clear. 7-8 seed next year so legit playoffs team. Then the following year need to make it to the second round at least.

He’s a smooth talker. I’d say a 2 at most.

Success is based on expectations/goals. You don't trade your best defensive player and switch to a defense first philosophy if winning is your top goal. I think it's pretty clear that the primary goal was internal growth and we've seen a lot of that.

Zion , Hayes, NAW, Kira, Naji have all met or exceeded expectations.

Ingram, Lonzo and Hart didn't regress but didn't take much of a step forward.

Stan was brought in specifically to break this team of it's bad habits and develop the young players. Development has gone well. The bad habits are still there but it's not like he's not trying to give them better habits.

I don't think the hot seat next year is for Griff, it's for Stan. Griff needs to bring in more people that fit the defense first style they want to play, but if they don't start playing defense it will be time to try another voice.

Are they?

They might be. But I'm having a really hard time seeing how we shed guys like Bledsoe and Adams (I do not see any team taking Bledsoe without significant attached compensation), and re-signing Ball to anything remotely what he will be looking for is starting to seem like a really bad idea.

This offseason is...concerning, especially in light of how poorly this past offseason was in retrospect.

I think you are going to see some serious changes to SVG's staff this offseason. To be frank, it isn't very good. It seems like it was done on the cheap at bit.
