How can we get BI to unleash his dawg 24/7? (Assertiveness)

My biggest issue with B.I is you don't see him assert himself in a room full of alphas. I've been watching the showcases this week and part of me wants to believe its by team design but dang I just want playoff BI every game. That guy was insane.

What player "unleashes their dawg" 24/7 in the NBA?

LBJ
Luka
Dame
Jaylen Brown AND Jayson Tatum

etc.

Most of the guys you see at the top of the food chain consistently year in year out.

Its not a knock on BI, just think that his next gear can compete with any of the guys listed above a majority of the games he plays.

I dont think its unreasonable to think about it in a certain way when weve had a few threads over the years about how Zion and BI are still figuring out how to mesh.

They definitely do not. Seems like you're just paying attention to their highlights.

I disagree. Additionally to further why I disagree is again on a team full of people quite frankly that are not on his level at all (Team USA) im watching Brunson pound the ball into the court almost every possession it seems.

If you would like I could rephrase the OP to assertiveness

BI is a very coachable player but a bit too humble to coaches and teams. Not a puppet but he’s gonna realize, hopefully as soon as this season, that he’ll have to start slightly bucking at coaching and ownership behind the scenes! He has the production/efficiency value that would allow him to do so. Dude is an intelligent introvert.

Lol. Kobe was the last player worthy of being mentioned in this convo and he literally cloned himself after MJ who was the last before him. Bird before MJ and Wilt before Bird. No others are worthy of this.

Have you seen him this off-season? Looks like he’s lived in the weight room and then eating when he isn’t. He’s also a ball rat. Basketball is his life. He looks a good 1.5” taller somehow and 15 lbs heavier. Like he needed any help being longer than he already was he clearly hit a late growth spurt this off-season. He’s ready to prove once and for all that the Pels are his team, not Zion.

No. That is almost a disrespect to all of the hard work he has put in this offseason.

He's filling out and building himself up. People don't grow more at almost 26 years old without some kind of disorder. He has always had bad posture, kind of slumped over. Building up his shoulders and standing straight up, will make it look like he is taller. I'm sure he is also working with trainers who are stretching him out, making him more limber.

Wow.

Lol, I can’t think of 2 players that are further away from being “Dawgs” in the entire NBA than these two.

Can you honestly say Zion should be the leader of this team? He’s still got a lot of growing up to do, he needs guys like BI and CJ who are hard workers at their craft to build good habits.

If he's not, then we are totally screwed. Everything hinges on it all coming together for him.

He needs good players around him. That should help. I'm not convinced those are the best people to surround him. But honestly, I don't know who those people should be..

Eh, Brunson was just the best player on a team that went to the 2nd round of the playoffs and had a better offensive season than BI ever has, so I'm not sure I buy into him not being on that level.

Fwiw, my reply is less of an indictment on Ingram and more so just thinking we're probably underrating Brunson who is legit.

Was the best player on a team in the Finals, not the passer BI is, but scores more and does so more efficiently.
I have no clue why people think BI is a lock as better than Jaylen Brown. It's close, but I also think Brown has the better argument as the better player.

Yeah, and Brown is going to be even better when he learns how to dribble …. sheesh

He clearly hit a late growth spurt this off season? No he didn’t clearly hit a growth spurt just because you saw him in a photo at an angle where he looked taller than in comparison to others.

He turns 26 in 2 weeks. He most definitely didn’t hit a growth spurt from when we last saw him play basketball in June to 2 months later in July. You think he grew several inches in the 2 months of off season so far?

BI still turns it over more, Brown scores more and more efficiently and is much better on D

Not sure why were acting like it's a crazy idea that Brown is better, it's certainly not farfetched and I'd bet it's the more common take in general
