Can't hire Gentry away while he's still working to win a league title.

Lol Circle K Beggar, that is a classic name, and the fact that your location is corner of highland and E. State just made my day bc that's my circle K. Since you can't pump gas there or walk out with a 12 pack without being asked for money, I have a tip for you. When they approach you pull out a little change and say ahhhh man, I'm like $0.52 short for some
Beer is there anyway you could spot me bro?

They will look at you strangely and walk away, if you do it enough they will remember you and never ask for money again.

To the original post, it is boring, but I bet we have a coach at least a week before the draft so hold tight. I'm guessing the week of the 15th-22nd we will have one by then.

I would definitely rather have a boring search and the FO do their due diligence and look at all available options than them rushing to sign someone

Has to be before June 25th right?

Can the Pelicans draft without a coach?

We can draft without a coach because our GM gave all of our decent picks away. Now, you would like to get a coach in and see how our current pieces fit before the draft so that we can see about trading some of them for picks.

My guess is that the coach has been tapped. Just working out the details of the contract and kicking the tires of other coaches just to be able to say they did their due diligence.

I've been trying to figure out who is on the short list.

Gentry and JVG seem to be for sure, Gentry looking at assistants and there being reports of mutual interest from JVG rather than denials suggest as much.

I can't come up with anyone outside of that. Hoiberg has been tied to Chicago if he leaves, Chicago is making Thibs unavailable, Atkinson would have required permission and therefore a leak like Gentry.

Mike Malone and Ettore Messina with the Spurs are 2 possible guys that are in situations that would let them make the short list while staying off the radar, but they also don't seem like they'd be near the top of the list.

I doubt it. But there is definitely a short list with 2-3 guys by this point.

I expect leaks about the choice to come out by next week

That list would be Alvin Gentry and JVG, Thibodeau would have made three, but Loomis isn't going to play games with Chicago.

My guess is Gentry will be the next coach, but I'm still holding out hope for Van Gundy.
