One would think the Warriors run pretty much eliminates them as a landing spot for Gordon.

They will build around Klay and Steph.

Tons of posters LOLed at the thought of moving EG for Klay Thompson. Hope you all are watching these playoffs.

But But But Gordon is a Top 10 player...and all we need to do is wait one more season before he is fully healthy...

We already had our Come To Jesus thread on this last week LINK

It's what fans do, we value our assets as high as possible and other teams assets as low as possible. FWIW most of the I told you so I'm seeing on this issue is wrong. I don't recall seeing much about EG for Thompson and Barnes, it was EG and #5 for Thompson and Barnes and a bad contract.

The real question for a potential GS deal is can ownership handle an $80million payroll for one year?

You have to think, in that market and with the bid they put out to buy the team, its possible. If so, moving Thompson/Barnes makes no sense. In 2014/15, they've got 6 guys under contract for $25million. Those six? Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Lee, Ezeli, Green. Will be interesting when they get to extensions, but they should be good for a very long time.

edit- then again, maybe the leveraged themselves into the red with the purchase and the new arena they are going to put up on the Embarcadero.

I would have jumped all over Gordon for Thompson & Barnes.

Most people we clamoring for a pick as well. Barnes is going to be a solid player in this league. All-Star caliber and Thompson is worth it b/c while he is a deadeye streaky shooter, he also takes the ball to the rack very often.

That would have been a steal.

As TigerinATL pointed out... beat you to it broseph.

But seriously, it was always a pipedream in reality. That team is young and supremely talented and putting it all together.

They are going to look to add depth and veterans, not subtract from the core.

They are completely out of the picture in my mind.

Exactly. Most people were taking issues with the crap contracts being sent back.

The Warriors will be in the market to upgrade.

We'll see if they are interested in Gordon or not. With Jack done, they will need a guard shuffle. That doesn't mean Gordon is the answer, but they'll need to do something, maybe just resign Jack and upgrade elsewhere.

That certainly doesn't mean they will be looking to add someone with Gordon's contract. They will be looking to add a Jack-caliber player, so either through FA or trade on a reasonable contract.

They aren't going to touch Gordon with a 10 foot pole.

As we get more into the offseason, I become more pessimistic of our prospects of moving him. Its either going to be a salary dump or we have to let him play into the season.

What GM/Owner in their right mind is gonna take on his contract for the baggage and inconsistent production from this guy? You can handcuff your franchise on potential.

He will be a Pelican next year. No doubt.

I'm expecting a trade by the deadline, assuming there is no Gor-gasm this summer.

I understand the pessimism and the idea that other teams will not touch this guy, but teams have to take chances to contend. I do not know if they think Gordon is a safe but, but word is they were interested before, so why not now when he's actually shown some good?

Just laying out what I see. I'm sure there's more there. This is far from a complete story.

It's interesting though, thinking about what the Warriors will do.

I can't pretend to read the future or anything, but GSW would be incredibly foolish to trade for Gordon. Too much money when they are paying Curry, Lee, will need to pay Thompson. And they sure as shite aren't going to trade Barnes/Curry/Thompson, the only guys we would really want.

I'm sure they would be more than willing to send us a later pick and a crap expiring like Jefferson for Gordon if they aren't worried about the long term commitment.

They have 74 million in contracts next year, FYI, if all players exercise their options. Biedrins and Jefferson will. Landry may or may not.

They only have 25 mill in committed salary in 2014-15 though.

Still that would be a foolish move. They should add solid veterans on good deals, and try to move Bogut's expiring for a less talented and cheaper 5.

i still wouldn't swap klay for ego. klay is mostly a jump shooter. i like the 2 guard who can get to the rim. drawing fouls is a huge part of late game situations and GS is finding that out the hard way. there's no "aggressiveness".

They are interested in competing, not dumping salary. They may not resign him after next year, butof he's healthy (big if) he is the perfect center for that team.
