I posted this thought in another thread an never got a response. So sorry if Germans.

I don't think he is worth a max deal at all. I don't want to tie up a max contract in someone who has been so injury prone and played in less games each year of his career.

As far as a contract goes: Is there a way to structure a contract that is based on % of games played to ensure that he is worth the deal from year to year? if not, what are some other options to ensure he is worth building around?

You don't let go of the main piece in the trade that sent away the best player to ever put on a New Orleans Hornets jersey.

If we were to not match any offer, we would have essentially traded CP3 for Aminu and whoever we draft at 10.

I believe that under the new CBA teams cannot include a "games played" incentive because, in the past, teams have benched players to keep them from triggering their bonus.

However, I do believe that Demps/Loomis are allowed to include other performance incentives (like total points scored or something similar) that would end up having the same effect. Of course, Gordon would still have to agree to the incentives.

The above poster is exactly right about games played disallowed from being a trigger for the reason given.

There is some more detail in the article.
