Games like this is why I don’t understand how everyone thinks Jonas is a bad fit

This is the type of team he just dominates because of his offensive skill inside. He gets constant double teams and makes great decisions. No BI and Zion barely got any run in the 2nd half because Jonas is just a force down there.

Hate on the “fit” with the starters all you want but it sure is nice to have a guy like him to just bully teams every now and then and get us easy wins

JV made a big difference tonight.
The guys did a good job of finding him when there was mismatch.

He is so much better than Nance.

Depends on the matchup. Im not huge on Nance but he does seem to have little bounce in his step last couple of games.

Jonas allowed CJ those big shots. They can win playing that kind of ball when Z has a bad night. I love that we didn’t lay down and feel sorry for ourselves. Plus BI looks like he might be back in 2 weeks. Hardly a limo on the bench with just a compression sleeve on his knee. No brace, no crutches. We are going to be just fine.

The issue is the fit with Zion isn't good. Notice how JV is usually really effective when he's the only post player in the game?

Wow you’re the first person who’s ever brought this up.

It really also depends on which Nance you're getting. JV is more consistently JV.

This was true early in the season. After the all star break- JV hasnt been that great.

But Nance has been Nance less consistently than Jv has been JV.

Willie has gone through JV in the right situations and we have won because of it.

Is that not a valid issue in response to your OP?

Zion doesn’t have to be a true post player.

All tonight proved was the JV shouldn't be starting and should be the back up big off the bench in non-Zion minutes. Which I think is what you have been saying for awhile now.

Correct

His minutes don't have to change but his usage can go up.

I don’t know this is easy to say but JV has started his whole career. We’ve seen before how JV can get disengaged when hes not involved. I can easily see if he doesn’t start how that might affect JV mentally and he lose his aggressiveness.

I hear you but I'd think 24 minutes and more involvement off the bench would be preferred over starting, playing 15 minutes of which 0 are in the 2nd half and virtually no plays running through you.

You’re absolutely right. I just don’t know if Willie would convince JV and motivate him to be in this role. Sometimes the “human” factor overrides whats logically best for the team.

Nance is just more athletic. IF JV was quicker, it certainly would help.
