What should I expect/ try to do or see during, after, and before game.

I try to make it to Happy's to get a solid buzz prior to the game.
During the game, expect to see several athletes shooting the ball, rebounding the ball, and defending other athletes from scoring the ball.
After the game, you can expect (in the event of a Spurs win) a bunch of native Westbankers in Tim Duncan jerseys to be incoherently boasting about "their team" as you leave the SKC. In the event of a Pelicans win, be sure to catch said Spurs fans leaving early- as I recall they're poor sports and will funnel toward the exit when their fate is sealed.
Beers are $9, some of the food is pretty good and will run you $10-$15 or so.

Eat before you go to the arena. Free parking on lafayette street off of claiborne avenue. Traffic is nothing like it would be for a Saints game.

You can also park on Roman street by LSU HSC campus, as long as it's after 6pm.

Happys or I'll hit up borgne. They have a killer happy hour with $5 tapas plates and $2 craft beer in cans. Totally worth it
