Get him to opt out and get him to sign like a 4 year/$40 million contract.

Somebody kept bringing this up to free up money next offseason, and I was one of the few on board. That was before he started improving. People need to get over the past. I get that his injury history is a concern, but his knees have been fine over the past season and a half. The shoulder was kind of a freak thing, and he came back a week or two sooner than was expected. A Jrue/EG/D+3 SF/AD/ASik lineup just makes tons of sense to me. Let Qpon keep up what he's doing and get Ryno back on track, and I'd love to trade the pair for an upgrade at the 3 (even though I do like what QPon has been doing). Re-sign Dante as a backup 3/4 and use the MLE on another good bench player.

Seriously give up on this shite.

Dude has played good when healthy and seems like he has bought into his role. If he stays healthy I'd resign him.

It's time to move on. I am glad he is playing better, and I wish him the best, but its time to move on. Hopefully he opts out and we can find a long term solution.

we couldn't afford him

Not true. His next contract will be almost certainly be significantly short of $10M per year and we can use Bird Rights to resign him. Depending on how the salary cap pays out, resigning him may offer you more flexibility than not. If you let him go and drop just below the cap, you lose your best exceptions for another year.

That's a big if. SG isn't really that deep of a position in the league.

While I don't think there a snowballs chance in hell that he opts out, I agree with the rest. I'm ready to move on, there are probably 20+ players that can produce at EG's level on the court. It's time for a change.

James harden
Goran dragic
Wes Matthews
Kobe Bryant
Jimmy butler
Olidipo
Joe Johnson
Demar derozan
Kyle korver
Bradley beal
Dwayne wade
Paul George

Edit: not saying their available, just pointing out that there are enough players at SG that are better than EG

this and might I add at a price that is not a max deal. Let him test the free agent market and then try to beat whatever deal he gets.

Well over half of those are not available nor will be for the foreseeable future.

You're right, but players like (SG/SF):

Danny Green
Gerald Green
Wes Matthews
Draymond Green
DeMarre Carroll
Jeff Green
Joe Johnson (no thanks)
Gerald Henderson
Lance Stephenson
Jimmy Butler
Monta Ellis
Wilson Chandler
Harrison Barnes
Jamal Crawford
Courtney Lee (maybe a stretch but I don't think Gordon is much better)
Luol Deng
Khris Middleton
Dion Waiters
Nicolas Batum

Are all on his level and available within the next two years. I stated that there are 20 players that can replace his performance on the court (to basically reiterate that I think he's an average NBA guard), I just named 19 that are available within the next two years, not to mention the abundance of players that are as good or better than him but won't be available.

First, you are overvaluing a few of those players. Second, the price for quite a few of the others is going to be quite higher. Third, we would have to actually create enough cap space to sign those players into. Gordon can be resigned using Bird Rights, leaving the full MLE and possibly the Bi-annual Exception available to us.

My whole point was that Gordon is an average starting NBA player that can be replaced by a number of people, and that I'd rather the team go in another direction. A few of those players may be a stretch, namely Courtney Lee, but he's a better defender than Gordon. Who else do you think was overvalued?

If the team can sign Gordon for 6-7mil, I'd be happy with that, but would not want him for 10.

Dude, Gordon is a very legit defender. I really think you're underrating him there. He does the little things that help your defense as a whole even when he isn't getting stats out of it.
