Am I misreading this exchange?

quote:

Reader: I was reading Yahoo today they said Simmons is a better version of Odom
Brett Dawson: I’ve always liked that comparison.
Reader: could you imagine Simmons running the floor with AD
Brett Dawson: which he doesn’t like to do, and they actually want to do less of.
Reader: understandable
Brett Dawson: In many ways, I think Ingram is a better fit for them. But whoever gets the 1 pick willl have a hard time passing on Simmons

Edited for readability, full conversation at LINK

So not only does AD NOT want to play center, which I do understand for now, but he also doesn't want to play to one of his biggest physical advantages of beating other bigs down the court? What kind of candy arse shite is that? AD always says the right Team First things, and he certainly sacrifices himself in games, sometimes too much, so I can't possibly be reading this right and Coach Space and Pace agrees that AD shouldn't run as much?

Not sure I believe that from Dawson. I cannot believe the Pelicans want to run less with Gentry. That makes no sense. He is all about pace.

That's why I think I'm reading it wrong or he meant it in a different manner. It doesn't make sense.

Running the floor with ad always led to easy points... Makes no sense.

We want to do less running? Why on Earth would any young athletic team not want to run?

Is he referring to imagining AD with Simmons maybe? Like getting too excited over something that might not happen?

The "he" could be referring to Simmons.

But I have seen AD loafing down the court many, many times, which has driven me nuts in the past.

That's how I read it. Has Simmons mentioned not wanting to run the floor? Seems like it'd be a big advantage for him as well.

I don't think so, since he goes on to say it is something "they" want to do less of.

If the pelicans end up with Simmons and Davis, we will be running the floor like no other team in the league.

What I love most about the dudes covering this team are the random comments on tidbits of info they know would interest the public and then never mention it again.

"AD doesn't like running the floor btw."

"Wait... what? You wanna elaborate?"

"No."

It's like verbal click bait or something

Cannot be accurate. Simmons enjoyed pushing the tempo and basically dreaded half-court once people figured out he was afraid to shoot.
