I mean we have to pay our players eventually. Of course we can get off Graham/ Temple salaries but what if Jaxson progresses and Kira looks decent? Not to mention Victor Wembanyama‘a contract.

Jose and eventually Dyson should take all of Grahams 15 minutes. I don’t even know what to do with Jax with the Zion/ Nance/ Trey trio.

Future is beyond bright AND for the 1st time we really don’t have any bad contracts/ long term headaches/ cap killers.

Maybe even this year?

If we can prove to be a legit contender, we should be looking to make a trade this season.

We will almost certainly be a tax team next year, but then CJs contract starts to decline and the cap will really start to go up so there is a path to not being a tax team in 24-25 while keeping most of our team

Gayle should use all the money from the bums across the street to pay the tax for these winners

There is a gettable PG or C that you want to have on the floor at the end of games over players currently in this team? We have enough ball handling. We have enough paint scoring and rebounding. Why would we need to shoe horn those positions?

I think they will avoid it if they can like any business, but they won't put not paying the tax above winning if they look like a contender.

Dyson and Trey alone can make Graham/Jaxson/Kira all pretty expendable. If you would resign Jaxson that's probably about $25-$30 million in 3 deep bench players. Do you really hurt your chances much by moving them for future assets and hope Liddell, Seabron, and Wembanyama can step up?

Well we can get off Jaxson, Graham, and Temple while keeping Kira next year. We would have 9 mil for 3 spots. I’m all for letting Kira walk to save the extra money but his speed and passing abilities could be a huge missing piece for us at PG.

Assume 4-7 mil would go to our draft pick and we would have 3-5 mil left for 2 vet mins/ Matkovich/ etcc

I’d gladly take another shooter off the bench to take Naji’s minutes

Stop with this. We need to move on from him.

Why do we keep trying to make this a thing?

Have to pay the piper eventually….happens to every team.

Hard decisions in future years on who to keep.

As long as you keep your core together of Zion & Ingram ala Parker and Duncan.

At some point in the season and closer to the deadline? It's darn near a guaranteed yes.

I was just having this conversation with my cousin, a fellow Pels fan. I can totally see them hanging around the 3 seed around the time of the All Star break. If that happens, I can see them trading Graham and some picks (our own and not the LA picks) to a team that’s selling a rim protecting big or another 3 and D wing. Gotta have some options in the playoffs. Can’t be having Naji out there

I also think what and who we trade probably depends on Daniels. If he progresses and gives us more than what Graham is giving us, I can see us adding another piece at the deadline that gives us more depth, more D and more shooting off the bench

She would do it. Gayle loves the Saints and wants them to win but the Pelicans are her baby. She desperately wants to see them win, which is why she’s funneled so many resources into them.

She’s totally down with paying the tax for years if it brings us a title

Absolutely no reason to get off JV. You can’t have an allstar at every position. He’s a great value for what he does. Good rebounder and gives some inside scoring. And a good teammate.

Only trade we should make is for another 3 and D wing for Graham if Jax is healthy.

Who said anything about upgrading from JV this year? What if we need to invest in another center in case he’s hurt or Hayes or Nance gets hurt. Another center, and a good one, isn’t a bad investment and would certainly help us with depth there and make us a deeper and scarier team to matchup with in the postseason
