Do we know why Ajinca never plays?

There's gotta be something to that, right?

Can't get up and down the floor quick enough is the only thing that makes sense IMO

Omer Asik is getting 15 minutes per game averaging 1.6 points and 5.1 rebounds and he can barely make it up and down the court for $9 million :|

Neither was in the game when the lead ballooned last night as we played zero interior D. When I saw Gordon basically shove Ish out of the way to guard Jordan on the block while AD and Ryno were manning up guards on the perimeter, I was yearning for Monty's defensive rotations.

Lol I guess you're right. Maybe gentry values his defensive presence enough to put him on the floor. I don't know, Ajinca just doesn't seem like the type of player that would piss a coach off, and he's a good offensive player.

Who knows.

I said it when we first got Him and said it when he got his ridiculous new contract. Omer Asik's contract could seriously cripple this franchise for the next 4 years. Who in their right mind would trade for this guy who barely plays, oh and who is also getting serious money.

Not sure why Ajinca doesn't play and he is also getting 5 mill to sit on the pine. I'm not really sure what we are doing honestly.

It's really frustrating to see us pay our two bigs and never play them. It looks like Loomis' wise spending habbits has rubbed off on Demps

Didn't we technically have to pay Asik and
Aijinca so we could have decent non greg stiesma level centers for the year? It's not like we could've used the 17 mil elsewhere. You can go over the cap a certain amount to re-sign your own players. We weren't able to use the money on Greg Monroe or another FA center.

By the way, I agree with Aijnca needing playing time though. He's too good offensively not warrant at least 8-10 minutes a game.

This would imply that Dell was at some point competent.

The problem isn't paying them this year or Ajinca for 4, it's paying them both that much for that long when 1-2 years from now you'd be better served by someone getting paid for just 10-15 MPG.

As for why Ajinca isn't playing more, I've been calling him another Aaron Gray for a while. He's a matchup center that you don't want playing in every game, and if you have Asik on the roster as well he'll play even less. Why he didn't play vs. the Clippers seems curious at 1st glance, but the Clippers only played a traditional center 25 minutes and Asik got 16 of those. AD/Ryno getting 10 vs. a traditional center seems about right so this was another night where small ball dominated like the 2 phoenix games and Asik and AD are ahead of Ajinca on the depth chart as they should be.

what about tonite (favors & gobert)
plus they are on a back to back, you would think he'd expand the rotation

Yup. He's a 4th big. His foul rate is back up to over 6 Per 36. He is not a good defender in general and can't keep up v 2nd unit bigs that most teams play. Plus he can't play w/ Anderson.

The real worry for the Pels is how bad Asik has been. If he doesn't show signs of life, they might have to stretch him this summer.

In a vacuum each of those deals seems ok, but taken together and added to the trajectory of AD and the League they seem pretty stupid.

I just don't understand this front office. Why would we sign ajenca and asik to be our long term centers when they don't fit the system. The intelligence level of this front office is so fricking low, nearly any casual basketball fan can do better in talent evaluation.

That's true. Both players were instrumental in getting us to the playoffs last year, but the way Gentry runs his system they probably aren't all that necessary. I think Dell wanted to resign asik because if he hadn't, it would've meant we traded the 18th pick for a 1 year rental.

Nah, we had lots of fans going full retard over signing Greg Oden to multi-year deal bigger than the minimum a few years ago.
