Good as we could get at the time.

Very good for this team

Evidence of how effective a strong 5 would be with this young core.

Cant win without him

We need better.

Not terrible but I don’t want him here next year unless we literally can’t get anyone better in the offseason. Dude is plan C. He’s an slightly above average player within 3 ft of the rim. Outside of that radius and he sucks

He just got all ball on that block though. Fake foul.

I cringe whenever he shoots outside of 2 feet of the basket but he’s obviously a valuable player for us.

Who do you think is better and will be available this summer? Unless Hayes takes a huge step forward in the next 2 months, it will be really tough to replace what Favors provides.

Yeah you probably have to look to the trade market and hope a team like Indiana is willing to move on from Turner finally, barring that, there are not many centers out there that fit the mold without some glaring downsides.

FA wise? maybe Serge Ibaka? Had a resurgence moving to center and is now scoring 16ppg and shooting threes at 40%. But is *coughs* 30*

Meyers Leonard? He could make sense like he does in Miami as a 15-20min player. But I would bring him in only for a really cheap price and suspect he just stays put.

Honestly, wish we had just kept Wood over Okafor so he wouldn’t have wanted out and we would have all the utility tools in the center knife. A rim protecting banger in Favors, an athletic floor stretcher and scorer in Wood, and the freak athlete to be molded in Hayes. Depth and matchup versatility. And from a fit perspective, Wood is probably the only other guy we could go after in free agency that checks most of the boxes, but I suspect that bridge is burned and the Rockets/Celtics have already made it known with deadline offers that they want to pry him away from a Pistons team that also really likes him.

It’s funny that people started turning on Favors a few weeks ago, comparing him to Asik and acting like he was some bumbling black hole on offense. All this after he posted 12.1pts, 9.9rbs, 72.7%TS, and a 142ORtg in the month of January.

Is he a perfect fit for the future of this team and worth big money going forward? No. Can we upgrade at his position in the future? Probably. But the hate he has been seeing on here recently is ridiculous. I think some people on this board have to focus the blame and vent on somebody all the time. We’ve cycled through blaming Ball, Jrue, Gentry, Melli, etc. Favors is just the flavor of the month.

I think some people look to blame the center any time something happens in the paint but it’s not a completely fair way to judge the position defensively in an era with the three second rule and restricted area.

When a guy like yes, Zion, gets beat of the pick and roll or misses a help assignment. The center can only do so much and often has to choose one of several bad options including getting himself into foul trouble. But I see situations like that and then people blaming Favors for the breakdowns of others and that to me isn’t really fair. Our on/off with him is pretty clear. As is the games we have to play without him. They guy is a really good defender.

Frankly, he is probably the best big that will be available to us outside of trades. And if Hayes could start working with Vinson, that would be a pretty good veteran/youth combo.

Favors is a role player thats finding his stride and filling that role. Solid 10 10 guy every night and plays better than average D

I think Whiteside is also up for free agency this year. If money or contracts were about equal, would y’all prefer him or Favors? Or if he came a little cheaper, who would y’all prefer. Hayes is the future but I think we need someone for about 2 years to bridge the gap. Just curious on opinions on him. He’s obviously way overpaid now.

He is a very solid player.

Above average PER.

He is a very valuable player to this current team with two very skinny front court players in Hayes and Ingram
