A source directly involved in those talks said Friday morning that the Hornets were not planning to appeal the nixing of the deal, as ESPN reported Friday. Rather, the Hornets will try to see if sweetening the current deal in some way would make it more acceptable to the league, which currently owns the Hornets while it seeks a permanent owner who will keep the team in New Orleans. The Hornets also have several other possible deals on the table for Paul, and could go forward with one of those if teams involved in those deals make enhancements to their offers, the source said.

New Orleans' management, the source said, is determined to make a deal for Paul, who reportedly was not going to show up for the first day of the Hornets' camp. Like Orlando, the Hornets will not allow Paul to play out the final year of his deal, become a free agent next summer and leave with the team getting nothing in return.

I'm not sure if this gets us leverage or stuck with a disgruntled star.

I have to say that, at least from what I know, Demps impresses the hell out of me for a second year GM.

This whole situation is giving me a headache. I think I need to back away from the tv and Internet and check back in tomorrow morning

It seems like a long shot in a way, but maybe this can give us leverage for a better deal since the NBA said no and not actually Demps.

What crazy arse owner/GM would even entertain a Chris Paul trade now knowing it could get rejected which would cause turmoil on their team like what is going on with the Lakers & Rockets.

Better to keep your distance and let Paul hit the FA market than have the NBA cause turmoil with your players too.

Yeah man, it seems Demps woke up this morning and said, "frick that, they better not stop this shite again. Let me do my damn job. I got something for them. I'll sweeten the pot"

This could blow the LA/NO/Hou deal apart

Stefan Bondy: SOURCE: Nets are closing in on Nene after upping the offer last night. Went hard after the center after Chandler went to the Knicks 1 minute ago

Their whole plan was to pair Pau and Nene.
