The New Orleans Pelicans are signing forward Axel Toupane from D-League's Raptors 905, league sources tell @TheVertical.

People saying a big blow the 905's playoff chances

Toupane is a 6'7 wing averaging over 16 ppg with 4 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

The Raptors 905 losing Axel Toupane in the playoffs could be a back breaker. He had 41 points in their game 1 win over Canton #NBADL

So he's gonna play great and some other team will sign him.

I doubt its for two days.
I'd say it includes SL

what is the sense of signing anybody for two years from which 1 year mean 2 games?

even unguaranteed

you can agree SL contract still...

Because you then have the contract available to use in a trade if you need it for filler.

minimum and unguaranteed contract is not an asset in trades.

in the new cba only guaranteed money counts

Liked what You have seen from Toupane?

That's not true.
What if you need to make salaries work and the team who is taking on that player doesn't want salary in return then a non guaranteed contract is very valuable as they can cut him.

I am looking for a link, but Larry coon mentioned that to match salaries in trades you will need guaranteed money.

So if a player X have 100k guaranteed, and 1,5 m unguaranteed - only 100k counts in trade

Yep. New CBA requires guaranteed money to match in trades. No clue yet if older contracts will be grandfathered in like Asik's.

Because if you like him you get Early Bird Rights a year earlier than if you waited until Summer League to sign him. It gives you a leg up in the market to keep minimum level guys because there's an unwritten 4/$20 team option attached to it that no other team can offer.
