Would he be a good fit here? I'm watching him play and I feel like he could take up the slack from Eg and Reke

His passion alone would immediately strengthen the team. We have a bunch of guys who don't give a shite and you can tell it's draining AD

He's done nothing but make huge shots this year. I'm ok with him missing one free throq.

We aren't getting Simmons or Ingram, so I'm holding out for Hield.

Weaknesses: Buddy’s main knock will be his height for an NBA shooting guard, and although he’s improved his handle significantly in order to become more of a combo guard, he’s still not more of an undersized 2 ... Buddy handles the ball a lot, and carries a great offensive burden for the Sooners, as a result he can be turnover prone at times (10 TO’s vs Oklahoma State) ... Buddy has clearly worked to improve his game off the dribble, and now takes less than 50% of his shots from deep, in favor of driving to the hoop to keep defenders guessing ... In reality, this is a player who has clearly worked very hard at not just what he does well, but his flaws, and as a result, he’s become a very complete player, that’s hard to nitpick outside of some physical differences between the size of NCAA players and those in the NBA ...

Athleticism is a question mark too

upside

is his potential maxed out? how will that translate into the NBA, if so. Wouldn't be the first guy who could shoot whose game didnt translate

i like to compare to Ben McClemore, who is the same age as Hield. McClemore was lights out as a freshman and has better athleticism than Hield. BMC would be a senior in this draft if he stayed in college. He's not a good NBA player

Never watched him closely until today. He reminds me in some ways of Damian Lillard, only bigger. Not as quick.

His shooting ability is damn impressive.

To me, his only real flaw is he isn't 6'6". He has some long arms though.

exactly, its hard to ignore his shooting percentages. They just aren't good, they are some of the best i remember in CBB in recent memory.

He can shoot. That's pretty much it. Whatever else you get besides that is lagniappe.

Dude has a legit shot at a 50/50/90 shooting season. He currently has it. That's nothing to scoff at, especially when shooting 16 times per game including 8 three pointers.

yea so maybe he isnt a superstar NBA player, but he's more than likely will be a guy who can get buckets. Not saying we'd take him in the top 3, but he could be in play in the 5-8 range

At worst he looks to basically be current EG with more heart, passion and rebounding. Likely a great spot up three point shooter(which EG hasn't been this season) who can occasionally take it to the hoop but will be a defensive liability.

Getting that on a rookie contract isnt the worst thing you could come out of the draft with.

I would LOVE to have Buddy Hield. Not only is he super talented and a great shooter, but the kid plays hard, has heart, and is a leader. That's exactly the type of player the Pelicans badly need.

I think the right coaching and the right development he could be a useful piece, I think he is coachable and could do well as a young player.

The kid would be successful in Gentry's system. We are lacking a true off ball guard who opposing teams have to chase all over the court. Hield is the type of guard who Gentry needs in order to effectly implement his system. We have too many players who requires the ball to have a impactful presence.
