quote:

“I was stressed out two weeks ago and I just drove home,” a teary-eyed Cousins told The Undefeated after practice on Thursday. “It took two hours at the most. I saw my mom. Hung out at the house. I was mentally gone. I went back to my old neighborhood and hung out on the block. I saw some of my old people. I left there and felt amazing. I don’t know if it was being around that genuine love, it just kind of humbled me.

“I see these guys, how it used to be and where I’m at now. It just put me in a better place. Being able to do that will always keep me in a good place. It will help me see the blessings I’ve been able to receive over the years, what I came from, where I’m at now. I hate to say it, but what I was reminded about is how I went from rags to riches. You basically see what you left and how far you’ve come. I’m like, ‘How can I complain? How can I be mad about anything?’

I really think that's going to be a big thing for him.

Spears has been doing work with Cousins since the trade. Does he have an established relationship with him? Or is it just because Cousins is a hot topic after the trade?

Good read, thanks for sharing.

Where in the hell does he live at? I can get to Mobile from N.O East in about 2 hours maybe.

I want to say Spears covers the Kings in some capacity? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure when this was all going down, Spears was the one to pop up on radio spots and tell everyone that'd listen that NOLA should be freaking pumped. He's also from NOLA.

If you drive the speed limit you can get to Mobile from Uptown in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Maybe he drove a little faster than that? He also might be from outside of Mobile, not right in the middle of the city.

ETA: Not saying that he lives Uptown, just giving a frame of reference. I think he may have been looking at condos in the WHD, which would be faster than the Uptown route to the interstate.

I think y'all are digging into a quote a little too in-depth. He could easily say his 2 hour 35 minute trip took 2 hours for interview purposes. The time is not the important part of the quote, especially in comparison of NOLA:Mobile and Sacramento:Mobile.

If a DeMarcus leaves New Orleans heading east toward Mobile at 75 mph, how fast would a similarly sized DeMarcus need to travel from Sacramento to get to the same destination?
