IMO you're always going to have a bit of a fit problem if you have more than one guy in your starting or closing lineup that doesn't shoot 3's. Typically that player is a center, because centers who are good on defense and also shoot 3's are few and far between. Having that player be someone who plays the 4 makes fit a bit tougher, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try.

Look at how Milwaukee is built, well i should say was built, and that should be what we aim for. Lopez could shoot the 3 and also protect the rim. Porter could shoot the 3 and was a better perimeter defender as the 5. That's what we need, and it's not easy to find that. Zion and Giannis are very similar in their games, and their teams need to be built similarly to succeed at the highest level.

Do you guys not think if we got that game changer at the 5, that BI and Zion would work better?
Problem is getting that game changer is going to cost BI, as I think he holds a good bit more value than CJ on the open market, even though i think we are all in agreement their differences to us on the court isn't that big.
I think the issue with that is BI isn't taking a back seat to the #3 guy. CJ will.

I’m not super hype on getting rid of talent that wants to be here. Bring in a coach that will force BI to shoot 3”s and pass ball sooner.

He's had 3 coaches.

At some point you have to give up hope that it will get through to him and realizes he's the problem and that part can't be fixed so no need to try to any longer.

Right now problem is if BI stays he’s taking 15-20 shots a game and just a few 3 point attempts. And now you’re paying him $50 million. And his defense is…ok. Very hard to get up the volume of 3pointers you need today with that model. With Trey, just as an example, we saw the Pels get up 35-40 3 point attempts a game in the flow of the offense. The offense had a clear identity: Zion in/shooters out. It’s simple and it works unless you are missing all your 3s which happens some nights…

Trey fits like a glove with Zion.

Except he can't guard anybody and provides absolutely zero secondary creation if teams decide to start hedging Zion hard.

The front office and coaches have been telling him for 4 years to take more 3s. At this point it’s his fault. This coaching staff can get CJ to take more 3s so it’s not their fault.

All I'm saying is that you may never find pieces that are the right fit next to Zion. We're already in need of a unicorn at center, apparently

Funny you say this, but the actual unicorn has been traded a couple times for almost nothing the past few years. I always thought he’d be a great fit next to Zion to close out games.
