Let's get the obvious stuff out the way. Obviously a GM and possibly a coach with a job on the line won't tank unless they have no choice. This is also not a post calling for tanking. If we are tanking either we are playing more of the atrocious basketball we are currently witnessing or ad is hurt and it's worse. However at a point or certain record the season becomes a lost cause. At that point does the staff make the right call or not?

Also do we have any faith in Benson or Loomis to make that call if gentry and Dell aren't willing?

Jrue and Tyreke are on contract years and both want a piece of that new contract money so they will be playing their butts off. Not to mention when they come back AD will start to play hard again because he's sick of losing so tanking aint happening.

I agree that in our best case scenario jrue and Tyreke makes it harder to tank. However there are a myriad of ways to can go wrong and that has been the story of the Alvin gentry pelicans.

they aren't tanking. they had a perfect opportunity last season and didn't.

injuries, horrific start, expiring deals....and they forced their head coach to apologize for saying his team wasn't a playoff team in early March when they were 13 games under .500

Tanking is also a lot harder than you'd think. This team started out 1-11 last year and played the last 15 or so games with a DLeague roster. They still wound up with the 6th pick, not a top 3 pick.

The only way I can see this team effectively tanking is if Demps/Gentry get fired Januaryish and the interim GM trades Holiday. I just don't see how a team with a healthy AD/Jrue loses enough games to get a high pick without some lottery luck.

This is definitely true, but I would argue that injuries aren't currently a real excuse. Tyreke is not a major piece on this team healthy or not, he essentially acts as a better lance. Jrue coming back will be huge but it's entirely possible we still suck with jrue. Ultimately what I am asking isn't whether they will tank, because obviously I hope jrue comes back and has the impact we expect. What I want to know is if this year's roster construction turns out to be a disaster even when healthy does a single individual in the organization make the right call?

When has out record not been better with Tyreke? And Jrue is a good smart player. Those two will help immensely. It will allow everyone else to play their natural role. No more need Hill, Fraizer, or More to score 10+ point. And no more AD getting tripled because Jrue or Reke will then give you 30.

Maybe this start has just got me too depressed I think it would be great if Reke and Jrue turned this season around I'm just really pessimistic about our decision makers in the front office.

Unless they fire both GM and Coach, I don't see it happening.
