you do realize that is a meaningless fact in reality, right?

I guess it is not unusual that in a huge frenzy of free agency when big men were being courted by multiple teams who were competing for their services, there was not one mention of any team being interested in even meeting with Asik. I guess he was just that loyal to the Pelicans.

Plain and simple, we overpaid in years and dollars.

All we can do now is hope Gentry can bring out Houston Asik on offense and Erman brings out Chicago Asik on defense.

reports suggest that it is not all guaranteed and that there are team options. This is not a bad deal. Loomis is a cap ninja.

don't love the 12, but length is the issue. Team options make this much better. Fingers crossed.

ETA: fletch hates the deal. Maybe I need to reconsider any negative feelings that I have...

Have we seen the structure yet? Someone said there were team options after year 3, although that's not what the reports in the OP say. 3/$36 with 2 team options is easier to swallow than 5/$60.

Not a fan of the years. But if it's not all guaranteed, and there's a team option, it's a solid contract.

The Bird Writes ?@thebirdwrites 4m4 minutes ago
Omer Asik's contract, after this year, is equivalent to $7-8M a season in 14-15 dollars.

The Dream Shake ?@DreamShakeSBN 3m3 minutes ago
@thebirdwrites literally the same price as his deal with the Rockets

The Bird Writes ?@thebirdwrites 2m2 minutes ago
As a percentage of the cap, Omer Asik's cap hit will decrease every season.
