That's so tough. Couldn't help but think of what it would be like to lose my wife. Wish I was home now so I could give her a big hug.

That was a great article. It's heartbreaking but also inspiring, and I was definitely cutting onions. I feel for Monty and hope he continues to find peace

I think you are forgetting some of Monty's huge flaws, but I would be ecstatic to have him over Uncle Al

All players being equal, this team coached by Monty wins at least 45-48 games. The difference is Monty wouldn't have lost nearly as many games we were favirorites in against inferior teams.

There would have been some modicum of consistency.

This poor man was fired after we had made the playoffs for the first time since CP3. The team improved every year under him as well, and as tough as the loss to GS was in game 3, they were that good that year and put up a magic show. Firing him for Alvin Gentry was beyond stupid

we all wanted Monty gone back then, and we all regret it now.
I think the best thing would have been to keep him, but tell him he needed to upgrade his assistants.
That last year and run to the playoffs, we watched a team that played with passion, and a want to win. we won 45 games with Jrue out half the season, AD out 14 games, Ryno and EG out 21 each, and played the first half of the season with no bench until Cole and Qpon came over. Luke Babbitt started 20+ games, Jimmer played in 50 games averaging 10 minutes, John Salmons played in 21 games averaging 13 minutes.

Winning 45 games with that was pretty damn hard looking back at all the obstacles.
I didn't have a problem with getting rid of Monty at the time, but I did have a problem with hiring someone I thought wasn't better than him in Gentry.

Even when the roster was devoid of talent, Monty William's teams never looked as bad as Gentry's teams, although this team has played much better lately (for obvious reasons). Looking back Monty definitely did more with less in 2015-16 and that's a big reason why it was such a memorable season. I sometimes was frustrated with Monty and his lineups but what did I really expect? Demps sucks at constructing a roster. If he could have pulled off the Cousins trade back then Monty would probably have destroyed the Western Conference

this is literally why people wanted Monty fired 2 years ago. the PTAO was created during that time. the team was .500 until Pondexter and then Cole came on board and played lights out. the revisionist history is gobsmacking

and all credit to Monty for that year. he got the most out of that team down the stretch. they clearly liked playing for him. and that story is truly astounding and inspiring. i'm rooting for him. i can't begin to imagine how he has dealt with the death of his soulmate and the mother of his children. the amount of grace and strength he displayed is stupefying.

My feelings exactly. Thought it was time to move on but I was really disappointed with the hiring of AG.
