That makes sense so next year we would be spending around 22mill on centers when our coach prefers small ball and our best play gets most of his minutes at C.
That's the 2017 view of things. By 2018 or 19 Asik will be off the books and Diallo will hopefully be ready for 25+ MPG. Monroe as the 3rd big at $10ish makes some sense with AD and Diallo.

We also would want to use the cap to sign a guard or SF if we plan on keeping Jrue instead of blowing our cap on a Monroe rental.

Even for long-term security, I don't see Monroe opting out of $17m in 17/18 to take a deal worth ~$10m/yr.

Wanting to and being able to are 2 different things. Unless this team makes one hell of a playoff run to attract Gordon Hayward, there really isn't much to spend the money on. Would they drop $20+ to steal Otto Porter when they already paid Hill all that money to become what Otto Porter already is? Would they do another Hill sized contract hoping Swaggy P could be the offensive counter balance to Hill like Ryno and Asik were supposed to be but weren't? SF help will come from finding a diamond in the rough and keeping him like they failed to do with Ennis, or drafting one in 2017.

I'm not really pro trading for Monroe, I would hope Tyreke + Galloway could net us something better. I just wonder if swapping Monroe for Asik long term is better than keeping Asik. When Asik eventually leaves we have to replace him with something better than Stiemsma and Ajinca.
