making room for tyreke evidently
Goodwin was non gtd so no big deal

so now we wait for pondexter
I still feel like another small move is coming and I wouldn't be surprised if they bring lance back if they can somehow dump ajinca

it's a symptom of the scarcity of threes in this league that big 2's (qpon/Evans) and small 4's (hill/Dante) are really the only options

My guess is that Ajinca is more injured than thought and bringing in another big

I think it's just Tyreke. Him back makes 7 guards. Goodwin was never going to play and this team has a history of trying not to waste the time of fringe journeyman types like Demps used to be.

ajinca not playing is a positive whether he's injured or not
and that's not just hyperbole he's a big negative on the floor and is hurting the team
if they can't move him I really hope they stretch and waive

Oh absolutely! I just meant that with as many guards as they have and the need for better rebounding that they could go after a big - Ajinca being hurt "forces" their hand

So they are signing another guard after waiving one because they have too many? I'll never understand this team.

Brown is a decent shooter I know but gives those minutes to Buddy and go get a big that can get boards and help somewhat defensively

Galloway is practically an expiring they won't have cap space to resign. Him getting traded with Tyreke makes sense down the line. When that happens Demps might bring somebody he's cut in the last month back. Also, MM has said his sources say 1st most likely outcome for Pondexter is coming back in January. 2nd most likely outcome is not playing this season. I think there has to be legit concern that you won't have QPon back even by the trade deadline.

I guess Brown is more of a wing than a guard but still and those points have merit

I guess using Reke and Galloway to get a big makes some sense

maybe they could move ajinca with Galloway
if buddy develops then he could take galloways minutes and a lawn chair would be a better option on the floor than ajinca

I could see Tyreke/Galloway/Ajinca for Monroe/Beasley/Novak. Diallo makes me curious about Monroe. Monroe needs a player like AD to cover for him on defense, well Diallo might end up being a player "like" AD as far as quick help rim defense goes. So if you have AD and Diallo does that make Monroe as the Pels 3rd big work? Monroe is averaging 9/6.6 in 18 MPG with a 2.8 NetRtg, I think we'd be ecstatic if we were getting that out of Asik who's giving you 2.9/6.5 in roughly the same minutes with a 0.5 NetRtg.

I just did some math using DRtg (points allowed per 100 possessions) and how many possessions they actually play and for every 18 minutes played Monroe gives up 4 more points than Asik, yet as we can see from the averages, he scores 6 more. It's not quite that simple because he does take 4 more shots than Asik in that time which means he could be taking shots away from more efficient players, but I think it's possible his offense makes up for his defense in a way where Monroe vs. Asik is net neutral but the offense would flow so much better if they didn't have to play 4 on 5.

Does Monroe make the usage rates of Holiday and Davis go down? The obvious answer would seem yes. He's not taking away minutes from players that efficient currently. You are shipping Tyreke out in this scenario so that may counter out the usage rates while giving us less redundancy. Also, the Bucks are taking Ajinca's contract for nothing? I'd think you'd have to throw in at least the philly 2nd. Knowing Demps. He'd trade away our 1st.

Optimistic indeed! Seems like the type of player worth taking a 2-3 year flyer on for ~$5m.

I hope Goodwin gets another chance (with another team). He actually played really well in his limited time here.

The Bucks want to move Monroe and I'm guessing there aren't many takers since he's been on the block so long and the only rumors we've really heard are Monroe to the Pels. Things in the locker room might have gone even further south too. The numbers suggest that on court Monroe has been a positive, but Zach Lowe commented on his recent reduction in minutes and DNPs wondering what's going on there, and he didn't say it like he thought there might be an "imminent trade".

So the Bucks are motivated sellers of Monroe with limited buyers and the Pels have to send out more than just Tyreke to make the trade work. We'll say Tyreke + Ajinca and they'll counter with Tyreke + Galloway and we'll say Tyreke/Ajinca/Galloway, take it or have fun watching Monroe opt in out of spite. At least that's how I'd play it if I didn't have any better options for Tyreke + Galloway. I don't trade for Monroe unless I'm either getting a future asset back or I'm unloading Ajinca.

If they don't plan to resign him then they need to trade him. It still bugs me that they didn't trade Ryno when a future 1st was reportedly on the table.

That makes sense so next year we would be spending around 22mill on centers when our coach prefers small ball and our best play gets most of his minutes at C.
