Anybody else find it refreshing that the national media sees AD how we see him now?

This season has really opened the eyes of the national media regarding ole Tony. That immediate title after the trade to LAL had them losing their minds with how good he can be, but almost 2 years removed he's shown to be the same guy in LA that he was here. The shine is off and they're really getting on him for being a complete pussy when dealing with injuries, a dumb guy who is clearly not a leader/alpha, who wants to shoot jumpers, who also legitimately HATES to play center (even though it would solve a lot of his team's problems if he would).

The EXACT same pattern of issues that held us back while he was here is now a major contributing part in the Lakers' decline...and I absolutely love it. I love how the LAL fanbase and national media have turned on AD. I love how their future looks much shittier (and how this may inch LBJ to try another team to end his career). I love how everyone associated with the team (including the NBA who has a rooting interest in their success) is deathly afraid of the state of the Lakers when AD is supposed to lead the franchise as a 30+ year old version of AD.

Inject the hate/fear into my veins.

Yeah kinda. It makes me chuckle a bit seeing them lose. And for everyone to see what a weak beta he is.

But honestly I really don’t think that much or care about ole Toni.

I just want Zion to be healthy and for us to be fricking good and the Blender to be packed again. Give us 2-3 seasons of really good winning basketball. We fricking deserve it.

This is more about basketball media, NBA Twitter, bandwagon fans, etc.

AD is who he always has been.

Without the Covid break, I imagine most people agree now the Lakers likely don't win the title

I kinda expected it was going to happen. A tiger doesn’t change its stripes.

Toni is always Toni. Playing on such a high profile team with one of the greatest of all time players was going to highlight just how beta he was.

He’s ultra talented he’s just soft.

I don’t even count that as a title.

Bubble title does not equal a real title.

I still can't believe this dude never developed a back to the basket game. It would save him from flinging his body at the rim all the time and cut down on injuries immensely

I generally try not to be someone who takes pleasure in other people's misfortune or shortcomings (or in this case the media's realization of other people's misfortune or shortcomings). But in this case I have to confess to a little schadenfreude.

it is so insane that he doesn't want to play Center. He would be the GOAT small-ball center.

The main positive is I think all of this media negativity makes it less likely someone comes in and saves AD after Lebron abandons him to play with his real son.

It also highlights the obvious fact that the national media guys never watched the Pelicans and had no clue of what was going on with our team. All they saw was AD highlights and our shitty record and was like "oh the Pels organization must suck---can't win with AD". Now they see that it's impossible to win when your "star" misses 15-20% of the games a year and gives half-arse effort another 10-15% of the games. (Yea we were always battling for the 8 seed but were always and a handful or so of games from the 4 seed some years so all those games mattered)

Add that in to the amazing culture we are building here and it's all good.

That's all Folks!--YOU HATE TO SEE IT!

To paraphrase Denny Green, “He is who we thought he was.”

I said when he left that he and LeBron would miss a combined 50 games a season.
Except for the bubble season, that's pretty much been the story.

People legitimately thought he’d be the best player in the NBA. I don’t think he’s top 20 even now

I’m glad people see him for who he really is now. I hope people see that he was the issue and not necessarily the franchise being a bad franchise. So long Street Clothes!
