Posted this before but here it is again.

I used this method last year and there were zero blackouts because you appear to be outside of the local area.

I have a GoogleTV ($50 at Walmart) and a Nvidia Shield. Works on both. If you can use a vpn on appletv or firestick, I'd assume this would work on it as well. And of course it'll work on a computer. Just make sure whatever VPN you use has an app for your device.

1. Sign up for a VPN with a server in India. I used ExpressVPN and there's a free week trial available.
2. Sign into your VPN and set your location to India.
3. Search Google for NBA League Pass.
4. Select annual plan and change to USD.
5. $19.99 is the cost for the entire season. Even comes with a 7 day trial.Guess they really do prefer cricket to the NBA in India.
6. Sign-up

Now on your GoogleTV/Nvidia Shield, etc.,
1. Download the VPN software and the NBA app. Login to both
2. Whenever you want to watch league pass turn on your VPN with a server in India and launch the NBA app.
3. After you're finished watching whatever games, disconnect the VPN.

Wish I could sticky this...

Yeah it's good intel. Can also get Pels home stream for every game with Joel and AD using this method

Thing to remember is to set your VPN to India and then register so it logs an international IP address before payment

Did you have any issues with lagging while having VPN set? I'm wanting to go this route, but worried about having buffering issues.

I usually have pretty good internet, just worried with having to have VPN set to India with the data having to "travel" so far it will effect playback capabilities.

Thinking about paying the 20 for the India package, but don't want to waste 20 bucks just to have to pay the 250 for U.S.

Have you had any issues?

Read a lot of people, ExpressVPN and NordVPN ran into some problems the last couple years with the NBA disabling/nuking accounts with VPN's and it can become a bit of a cat and mouse game.

NORD VPN has a thirty day money back guarantee. If it works, it’s worth the money. If it doesn’t, you’re out the $20 subscription for the NBA League Pass. It may be worth the shot. It’s absurd that you have to jump through hoops to try to watch games even though you pay for cable services.

I'm curious how you pay in this scenario. Are you using a US based credit card with a US billing address and ordering the $20 a year service to India? I suppose you could technically be someone from America living in India for work, but it seems like that type of transaction would be easy to detect and shut down if they wanted to.

From what I read, use PayPal to pay, it doesn't raise any flags

I used my regular credit card this time, last time I used PayPal. Neither triggered a warning. I'm using expressvpn and experienced lag only once or twice - the actual India server for Expressvpn is in England. League pass has a one week trial and must VPN services do as well. If it doesn't work, cancel it before a week is up. Just make sure your server is set to India when signing up and whenever you go to use league pass

I have done the India League Pass in the past, so I can try to address some of the questions answered here with my experience.

I used it 2 years ago with Private Internet Access VPN. That worked fine. I used an American credit card with no issue. Somebody was wondering about latency issues with data traveling back and forth to VPN servers in India. You only have to use the VPN to pull up the game. Once you have pulled up the game, you can disable your VPN, and still watch the game without directing your traffic to India.

Last year, I signed up again, and Private Internet Access VPN did not work. I assume the NBA has the most common India VPNs blacklisted. I also tried TunnelBear. I believe that one didn't work either. I also paid with an American credit card, and NBA refunded me without issue.

Hopefully that info helps someone.

Just did it. Really needed a way to watch games in the situation I’m currently in after Ida. Thanks.

Think they already got me. Games are locked. When I click to watch sends me to activate/subscribe page.
