Why did George McConnell "leave" WSP?

After all I've read I still can't figure out why they decided to replace him. Herring is better anyways IMO, but this story seems so murky, especially since the decision was made mid-tour. I'm interested in what y'all might have insight on.

Fan and band backlash, his tone and improvisation was way off.

He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Doreatha still a jam! Backyard with the Mikey rumors was amaze, but no long term solution.

It's damn hard to be the man that replaces THE MAN. I caught some good George shows, but most people I know (that followed Panic) didn't think he elevated jams, missed leads when they were thrown his way, and were ready for Jimmy to come on board when he did in 06.
