Ad-Rock in my opinion. A very underrated Beastie.

Hard to pick one, but MCA in Year and a Day is my favorite solo performance

That's sort of like answering "Kurtis Blow", because he's the guy who showed hip hop could be viable on a major label, so technically, no one gets big without him. But hat sorta misses the point of the exercise. I like Run-DMC a lot, but the Beasties are far better wordsmiths and took rap to a new level past the foundation they built.

And I'd agree it's Ad Rock.

They are a team and great together, but if I had to pick one I'd also vote Ad-Rock - I love the guitar on the In Sound from Way Out! He also added keys when money mark wasn't involved.

This thread makes me sad because MCA was my favorite. I was fortunate to see them at Voodoo 2004 show. Somehow I managed to be only a few feet from the stage. Was a great show. I had plans to see them one more time on their 2011-2012 tour at ACL, but they had to pull out. Still bummed about MCA's death.

Ad-Rock was the best, but MCA was the coolest.

Ad-Rock is not an underrated BB and is also the best BB.

Mike D was the weakest of the 3 IMO

Agree that Mike D could bring it. My post wasn't to slight Mike D, just gave a personal opinion ranking the 3.

I enjoyed all 3 and the different styles of all 3. One of the many reasons their sound worked.
