I can't believe that anything after Blood Sugar Sex Majik could be anyone's favorite.

But that's my favorite, followed by Freaky Styley

Choosing between BSSM and BTW is impossible for me. So I'm just gonna say both.

On the surface, I would say that it is close for me between BSSM and Stadium Arcadium - however, upon closer inspection, SA has "Hump de Bump" on it, which knocks it out of contention.

So, it's BSSM.

(ETA: Then BTW and Californication - then SA).

I was a little kid when they first started out, I didn't really start listening to RHCP until middle school when Californication came out, and that was one of the first CDs I ever bought. I'd probably go Stadium Arcadium, which might be a cop out since there's obviously more songs than their other albums, but it has a ton that I really enjoy and it came out my sophomore year of college so it was just a really fun time in my life overall.

I wasn't but I didn't pay attention until BSSM.

And, I'm as much a fan of Frusciante than I am of RHCP - I don't listen to anything by them, regularly, that doesn't feature him.

I enjoy most of their stuff, but BSSM was sooo good and dropped when I was 16 yrs old. Good times, great memories of that record. We all love Flea, but Frusciante is/was a friggen boss!

And his partnership with Chad Smith constitutes one of the best rhythm sections of the past 25 years - for all of his image and flashiness, Flea is gifted on the bass, both from a technical and musical standpoint. A perfect partner for Smith, who also kind of fits in that notch between funk and rock.

No question - it's very simple - I listen to most of the stuff the Peppers did with Frusciante, and very little to what they did/do without him. It's not personal - it's just what I like.
