No way in hell Tool can be the answer for this. They have a TON of fans but in general, people either love or hate tool.

Same age group and I agree with these, especially the last three.

It is still an individual thing though. In high school it was the Replacements, ,REM and Violent Femmes that I remember most. In college, it was the Pixies.

Cobain died in April of 94 right as my first year of middle school was wrapping up. At that time in adolescence, with everything your already learnig to cope with, and then having that happen.

That setup 3 years of teenage angst.
