Yes indeed. I do think the Beatles do it better, but I admit...I like the Motley Crue version as well.

Billy Bragg doing the Smiths "Jean". The one song Morrisey didnt sing very well that Billy nailed....and Billy is not a great singer.
Built to Spill covering Cortez the Killer.
The Feelies covering Velvet Underground's "What Goes On"
Maybe nepotistic of me to say Gourds covering Snoops' Gin n Juice. But I do think its a great cover. My brother does a lot of covers in his live shows and they are usually pretty good. He is still doing TLC's "Waterfalls", Ted Hawkin's "Sorry You're Sick" and Leadbelly's "we;re in the same boat brother"......his show is really 1/2 covers as he is a music fan and loves covering great songs.

I've always enjoyed Hole's version of Gold Dust Woman from the Crow 2 soundtrack.

Not no more. Gourds are dead. Shinyribs is the new band.

Couple things:
1) That's awesome.
2) I didn't know the Gourds were no more.
3) Shinyribs is an awesome band name.
4) "Tex Mex Mile" is one of my all-time favorite songs.

Yep. About a year and a half ago they called it quits. Kevin's "Shinyribs" project was taking off so he decided to focus on that. Claude and Jimmy have a band called Hard Pans which I need to listen to. Max is living 100 yards from me and helping his Dad take care of their rental property empire. I actually helped them move a thousand pound marble statue Max's Dad bought last weekend. Max just released a solo album I need to listen to.

Some homeless woman called him that cuz he gave her some ribs one time.
Shinyrins is playing in NOLA next week. Sat the 28th at Chickie Wah Wah LINK. He is channeling James Brown these days. He has some horns in the band and really is putting on a "show".
